Try wiggling it in front of the snakes face and make em strike for it and do it just like it was alive. Cause that's what they are used to.

my BP went 41 days without eating recently. so i started wiggling the mouse for him and he takes it that way. befor i would just put him in a tote and he would eat. but now i have to wiggle it. lol. all my boas just eat it without the wiggling. to get my BP eating again i actually had to leave him in a pillow case with the mouse and he ate it. since then just wiggling works.

none of mine have because i put a glove on so my hand is brown and huge, and it protects my hand from a misjudgement on the snake's part.
You would not beleive how many times a good ol leather glove has put me to rest at night.
I think every snake owner needs at least a good pair of leather gloves.

tekwarren once again my PM wont let me send it to you. so i will answer here. i dont have anything against you. i was just hoping that this thread would show you how bad live feeding is. i posted my reply wrong about my BP, of course i tried the rat dance right away but it didnt work. he just turned a yr. old and it was during mating season he quit eating. also i tried to switch him from mice to rats and he wanted no part of rats. i am feeding him a few mice now to equal a small rat.i will not give up on trying to switch him to rats. i will scent a rat with mouse next feeding. and to answer your question...yes i would rather my snake go months without eating then to jeopardize him by feeding live. i know he will eat eventually and not be hurt or killed in the process. i am sorry but nothing is worth live feeding to me unless it is that 1% that wont eat F/T and i believe that 1% would come around eventually also.

Cute and cuddly??? Far from that but I do love my guy I sit there and talk to him in a baby voice...lol Not sure why, I just do. And to think I use to be terrified of him.
I have been bit by my friends python, hurt, alot, took 20 min to get her off, 13 foot big mean python. He wanted to get a knife and kill her and I was sitting there crying saying " no! hold on let me think!" imp:

louise I have found that when switching from mice to rats if you place the PK/FT rat in an enclosure with used mouse bedding for a time it helps carry over the scent. In my case I use tubs for my feeder rodents so the covers are easily changed to one that will better lock in the "freshness".

Just to add some real life experience to that statment. My oldest pain the rear er I mean red tail scarlett went 6 months before. They can be a pain, but in the end I won out
My two youngest balls, frick and frack, at one time went 2 months. I was about to tie them into a knot but alas, a little time and many rodents out with the trash I won out again
With most situations time will win out. The problem is people will give in and that only will delay what your trying to do. As long as your critter is not loosing weight too much they are in no harm by working with them for a while.
Just my 2c
