Ok to start my BPs are disfunctional. The male (the one im concerned about) I boughtcb(sure he was) and was feeding fine for over a year on F/T. He went off feed over winter and i had a very hard time getting him back on, i kept offereing f/t and he would turn it down. I put in a live small rat and he whacked it and downed it instantly.next week it took a f/t but didnt really want it. I took in a Female adoption BP and She ONLY eats live. So when my male kept giving me probs, i too gave him live and he was fine. At this same time the new (very high strung) female would regurgitate her food right after eating. took her to the vet he found nothing wrong did a fecal and was clean. As an experimnt i started to house them together. they cuddled up right away and she hasnt regurgitated since.. i would put them in seperate tanks to feed and reintroduce them when they were done. this worked fine for quite a while. they both went off feed this winter. Now this spring the female is back to eating normally and the male refuses to eat..
Someone told me he probably has mating on his mind and wont eat now. So I seperated them . that was just this week. If this is the cage how long does it take for him to forget about her? I might as well join the club. My royal isn't feeding and hasn't even seemed to be interesting in food.

perhaps you should put some pics of the female up in his cage?,

but seriously, I wouldnt worry too much about it,
I have a male that hasnt ate since November, but he does that every year, and usually starts up again in late june early july.

if he isnt loosing body weight, I wouldnt sweat it too much.

My Royal eats like a bloody monster, I must be a lucky one.

I'm not sure what the size of your BP is...but I'd suggested getting a brown bag, put ur BP in the bag (in it's cage) and then put a fresh killed (appropriately sized) rat in the bag with it and leave overnight.

If that doesn't work, the next night do the same thing (toss the rat and get a new one tho) and after you kill the rat brain it, put a paperclip or needle through the forehead of the (dead) rat so that at least a dribble of brain juices come out. The smell should stimulate the snake to feed. Leave overnight in the brown bag.

If neither of those things work, and he's not sick/too thin then I'd not really worry about it too much for a few weeks unless he starts getting real thin.

JC
