The male ATB I got about a month ago has only eaten one pinky for me since I got it. That time I had to put him in a deli cup along with his meal and by the next morning. But since then it hasn't eaten. I tried feding it the pinkie fresh out of hot tap water. It won't even strike at it. Although he has no problem striking at me. I again tried the deli cup and for last 2 weeks it hasn't worked. I tried antagonizing him by touching him in various places along his body with the pinky to get him to strike and nothing.
The humidity is very high in the cage, I don't have an accurate humidy range but it cage fogs easily with little misting , plus I mist their(the female's cage too seperate cages) cages twice a day. the temps in the cage ranges from 83 (hot) to 73(cool)His cage is nicely furnished, climbing tree, plant life(live philadendrom), soak bowl. I'm using the reptibark as substrate.
I'm using the same cage set up for my female ATB and she is eating like a hog.
What I've done now is to put the male in a 10 gal aquarium with just a simple stick to climb on, covered with a damp towel and misting.trying to see if he is being overwhelmed by a nicely appointed cage.
Any other ideas?

Pimp slap???
I have never slapped a pimp, actually, I don't think I have even met one. Anyway, I am glad he ate for you. I hope he keeps it up for you.

Why do people always think that 15 questionmarks in the topic of a thread is a good idea? I have never understood the fettish with Hyper-punctuation.

*grin* I will live I suppose. I just have to sigh a deep sigh and go along with life.

lol....pimpslapping= first getting the amazon's attention and get him posed in that classic ammie double S strike pose...not hard to do...ammie owners know what I mean....then offer the food on tongs...established feeders will take it right away...they are seldom reluctant to feed...some like to nose it a bit...get a good sniff...then WHAM!!!!!!oops sorry Morti Some however are shy at first and reluctant to feed. bop him on the side of front S curve...he will shift...bop him on the other side and keep bopping side to side with the dead mouse untill it infuriates him and he bites it...at this point he will either take it and wrap it or recoil...as long as he got a little taste all is usually well...if he bites it and lets go ..just leave it with him...he knows it's there and will usually eat it after a few minutes of making sure you are done bopping at him. In the unlikely event that this doesn't happen...repeat next week....it will work...usually the first time but nothing is 100% the first time...amazons however are not known to be problem feeders....ever.
Sorry X....as I told ya in chat, you can't use this on a ball python. Only works on snakes that use attitude driven snappyness for defense. ball pythons are shy and will usually just ball up and hide if you go bopping at them. They just need to be left alone and feel secure...a hide in the feed box and lights out usually eventually helps...but they can go on for several months before feeding. Once they start feeding though, they are usually pretty predictable about when or if they will fast.
