Ok here's the problem. I have a seven year old female boa who has never had live feed. She's very docile and I'd like to keep her like that. Just recently moved to FL and where I live I'm having trouble coming up with rabbits. I can get jumbo rats but I'm sick of feeding her four at a time. There have been a few instantance where I could of gotten a live rabbit and there lies the problem. How can I kill a rabbit with the least amount of stress to it (and me). With rats I just do the ole swing it to the ground by the tail. Help as she needs a nice big meal. Thanks!!

theres a few ways
1. ask the people where you bought it to kill it if they can
2. dry ice and water the gas will put them to sleep
3. break the neck

The ways listed above a probably the best. other than taking a bb gun with steel shot.
But my suggestion is to use a feed service like rodentpro.com they will ship frozen feed to your door at a very competative price. I personally have not used them but have heard great reviews about them.
Welcome to RTB That must be a big girl you got there. Any pics?

My b/f is the rabbit killer here. We get them live from a neighbor who breeds them. He grabs the bunny by the scruff of the neck and then bops it on the top of the head with a hammer. Not too hard, tho, you don't want to crack the skull. We freeze them first and thaw out later when feeding day comes around.......

There are many methods of killing prey. Some are inhumane ways, but everything has to eat right? You could try any of the ways already stated, but I would use eddie's idea . . . maybe.

Take'em and hold their back legg's rub them up and down the back, get them good and relaxed, and BAM in the back of the head with a stick!! night Night!!! I wouldn't go with the BB thingy never sure what steel shot would do over a prolonged period of time!?

Yeah, it might rust and cause health probs if retained inside the snake.

That was my thought exactly. I was thinking maybe if you got close enough the BB would actually go through and out. But I would never take the risk. There is always .22s and 30.06s

I wouldn't do .22's or any other firearm because there will be fragment's lost inside the flesh!

Wow, you all have been a huge help. I just ordered two from rodentpro so I'll let you all know
how that comes out. I'm in Fort Myers, FL which happens to be the neighboring city of Cape Coral
so I'll be contacting my new friend next door. If nothing else works watch out cause I'll be swinging
a baseball bat!!
