I feed my 41" ball python a hamster every ten days because my baby refuses to eat anything else. Am I overfeeding her? starving her?

Well, what have you tried to get it changed to rats?
Hamsters are expensive and will take a few $$ in the future for one meal.

You can scent the rats with hamster, by rubbing the two together or letting the rat stay in the hamsters old substrate for a few days before whacking and feeding also.

I've tried, trust me this is my last option.

Ive tried the scenting, fk rats/mice, ft rats/mice and ive tried live. ive tried feeding in a diff container, in a brown paper bag, in enclosure, in it's humidity box. Ive tried all the colors of mice and rats, ive tried both males and females.

she only eats hamsters! she knows she can have her way with me. shes very picky with hides and plants and how her enclosure is arranged. Seems like my snake is completely domisticated, she no longer has anymore snake instincts.

I know where you are coming from with the spoiling, but how long have you gone between feedings before you decided that it would not work? I think that with a little dilligence it would switch over eventually. I don't know...royals can be very picky eaters. It would certainly be to your advantage to change him/her but you have to do what works for you as well.
The thing that you have to remember about feeding is one to two girth sized prey animals per feeding. Which in a full grown animal should be once every 10-14 days. I would think that at 41 inches your ball is probably nearing that, but would be best served by a 7-10 day schedule. Does the snake have good muscle tone? Can you feel it's ribs? It should be firm in its body but not hard.

Hope this helps!

Ted

she didnt eat for 132 days, which is about 4 months. Throughout this period is when I tried all those feeding methods.

As for build, well she's pretty stocky and no I cant feel her ribs. but I can feel her spine. But I think that's normal.

I think that hamsters are fatty.
Your snake must like the fast food type fatty prey.
I think that you can say that snakes are not all the
same and should be thought of as their own different
personality.
like Us, would you like it if someone told you that all you
could eat is salad every day and thats it?
Us humans are diferent in our likes, and thats one of the things that makes us individuals and special... Some of us like to eat fatty fast food and sit infront of the tv all day and not get laid, and then you have some of us who like to eat helthier, work out and get laid all the time...
but wait.... I dont think that snakes have the willpower to to restraine frome that fatty food.
the only thing that I cantell you is from my own experience and I have never let my snakes eat the forbiden fruit... j/k
my snakes have never seen hampsters at all.
(this is probably just a bunch of crap that doesnt mean annything to annybody but it is fathers day and I have the right, to carry on a bit, endlesly, if I have the desire to...)
