how much is enough?
two three foot boas.
when do you STOP feeding them????
they seem constantly peckish. especially the female who is always on the lookout for nibbles. ie: just now when she struck at the glass as i was walking past..
the 'donk' sound is becoming increasingly familiar!
my monitor lizard is a glutton. and i'm careful not to overfeed... but with boas... is feeding them when they are roaming the viv obviously looking for food generally accepted?
both snakes are very friendly btw! (once they smell human)
so.. how much is enough? donkey (the female) has eaten seven mice this week.. admittedly they aren't big... i got a small batch (i buy em in 50's)
anyone give me a ball park weight in grams?

perhaps you should try feeding them one larger prey item using the girth rule, and see if that fixes it.

At three feet, these guys are more than ready for rats. I'm guessing a small or medium, but look for rats that are about the same girth as the thickest part of the snake. Feed one prey item a week, and see if larger meals fill them up better. Snake's digestive systems aren't made to handle multiple small meals, so they'll be healthier and happier with one larger meal.

yeah, my 32" redtail eats small rats, and does quite fine with that.

I second what reptilemama has told you.... one prey item equal to the thickest part of the snake is the best

yes, if you try feeding them larger prey, and not so often, this will help. rats are much healthier imo.

this is very true. their digestive systems cannot handle all that feeding.. if you move up your prey size, and slow down on feeding as much, that should do the trick.
