Pet lover rushed to hospital
Pet lover rushed to hospital: World: News: News24
Hong Kong - A squeamish Hong Kong animal lover was rushed to hospital by ambulance after being bitten on the finger by his pet hamster, emergency services said on Tuesday.
The 20-year-old rang 999 after the hamster nipped him on his finger at his home as he stroked him in the city's Tin Shui Wai district at 03:00 on Monday.
An ambulance was sent to take him to hospital where he was treated and later discharged after minor treatment, a police spokesperson said.
Government advertising campaigns have been launched in Hong Kong to try to stop people misusing the free emergency services in the wealthy city of 6.9 million. - Sapa-dpa

Re: Pet lover rushed to hospital
Dang, A hamster "nipped" him? my pet rat tore a hole in my finger (thats why we should feed F/T, People) and there was no need for an ambulence haha maybe a bandaid or two. If I had to go to the hospital every time I got bit I would be in debt up to the ceiling

Re: Pet lover rushed to hospital
Hamster bites DO suck but not to that extent.
If I went to the hospital everytime I got bitten by an animal or myself (I BITED MY FINGER WHEN I EATED THE FRENCH FRY)... I'd be.... making the doctors pretty irritated :P No medical fees for meeeee

Re: Pet lover rushed to hospital
OMG biting yourself while eating is awful! Not only do you feel like a twit, but man it HURTS!
I'm still giggling about calling emergency services for a hamster nip. It says nip, not even a full blown bite!

Re: Pet lover rushed to hospital
yeah that is quite odd...my little sister HAD a hamster, for their shelf life=2years, and was that a little bugger, we were always joking (my family and I) about feeding it to my snake after knocking it out because it was so "nippy" but, wow, she never went to the doctors or anything, quite interesting...

Re: Pet lover rushed to hospital
Why would anyone want to take all that time and hassle to have to go to the hospital and get all that treatment anyway? That's kinda lame.

Re: Pet lover rushed to hospital
yeah i don't know. maybe he feels like he's not loved, because he's being bit by the hamsters, and by going to get free healthcare and people taking care of him, is a way to get his self esteem up! lol that'd be my guess

Re: Pet lover rushed to hospital
Hehehe... This made me lol. A lot.
The worst bleeding animal bite I ever got when my hamster, Teddy, bit me on the thumb when I eight. It bled like a river for almost an hour, but I didn't even cry.
*snort* A hamster bite.... lol again!

Quite so!!!
A deeper analysis of this quixotic episode would seem to suggest that the hamster was, in fact, purposely delivering a kind of inverted "Munchausen by Hamster" application to its owner with the hope of assisting its owner with his severe inferiority complex/whatever syndrome. Hopefully the hospital visit and all that attention will temporarily assuage the owner's rampant cravings.

LOL! INDEED, we shall see though. Lets just hope it holds him off from going back to the hospital for at least a few months! Then we can have more fun by posting another thread and thinking of obscure reasons for him going to the hospital.
And as i mentioned earlier, I don't quite remember how old this "guy" was (or was it even posted in the article?) but c'mon now, my 12 year old sister was getting bit, for the PAST TWO YEARS!!! Yeah the little bugger was drawing blood n all, but geesh..little scary to see a "MAN" going to the hospital unless the hamster had rabies or something..i don't know... lol

Re: Pet lover rushed to hospital
LOL!!! I remember when my pet hamster bit me really rather badly (I was about thirteen) and my relationship with him became a bit strained after that. I still kept him until he died of old age, but the amount of love and trust was decidedly diminished...I think that went for both of us!!! No hospital visit, though, although he bit me right through the fold of skin between the thumb and forefinger, and did not let go for a good ten seconds. I was up to date with my anti-tetanus shot.

Re: Pet lover rushed to hospital
I just got back from the hospital... I put my hand down on the ground and realized that a earwig had just pinched me. My wife called for life flight so I could be rushed to the nearest trauma unit....Seriously someone needs a reality check in a major way.
