These posts were interesting views that took place on the Venom List. This disease which was once thought to be purely delusional is now being considered parasitic in nature with the focus on microscopic arachnids.
I really thought it was worth a repost. It makes me wonder how many "delusional" problems are in fact not delusional at all.

[venomlist] Could Morgellons be a microscopic Parasitic Arachnid?
This evening I saw an episode of Primetime which featured this disease. One
of the most mysterious symptoms of the disease in question is the eruption
of %u201Cfibers%u201D through the skin as described below. These fibers did not match
any fibers in the FBI's database of 100K different fibers. This leads one to
think the fibers are not fibers but may be arachnid %u201Csilk%u201D and the source
some near microscopic arachnid (e.g.
mite) that spins or produces %u201Csilk.%u201D
After you review the website and search other descriptions of this
condition, I am wondering if the arachnidologists on the list think this
could be the case of an undescribed arachnid that could parasitize people
and produce spider-like web threads which then are rejected by the body and
migrate to the skin where it is then discovered by the victims.
There are 1000s of cases in specific locations which were originally
diagnosed as delusional parsitosis:

From their website:
http://www.morgellons.org/casedef.html
6.%u201CFibers%u201D are reported in and on skin lesions. They are generally described
by patients as white, but clinicians also report seeing blue, green, red,
and black fibers, that fluoresce when viewed under ultraviolet light (Wood's
lamp). Objects described as %u201Cgranules%u201D, similar in size and shape to sand
grains, can occasionally be removed from either broken or intact skin by
physicians, but are commonly reported by patients. Patients report seeing
black %u201Cspecks%u201D or %u201Cdots%u201D on or in their skin, as well as unusual 1-3 mm
%u201Cfuzzballs%u201D both in their lesions and on (or falling from) intact skin.%u201D
There are a number of additional websites where this condition can be
reviewed and researched:
