That's awesome! It looks like professional quality. Is that really the total cost that made you that? $45.00? I'm trying to figure out how to make a 6x2x2. I have no idea what I'm doing, I've never built anything before, and I'm a girl...So that's alot against me! But, for that price, it's worth a shot. How long did it take you to build that and would it be possible to get some step by step instructions from you? Also, did you use some kind of sealant on that?

Thanks...somewhere in this thread or maybe a different one I think there is a step by step but it's outdated. I have refined the designs a bit. Sometime soon, I need to make a couple more so I'll post pics then. I've had several requests lately lol.
Sealant? Just some white 100% silicone tub and tile caulk around the seams. Since they make showers out of this stuff...it's pretty much sealed as is
Price has gone up a bit. Tileboard was 9.95 a sheet back then. Now it's gone up to about 14 bucks a sheet or so. It's still a buttload cheaper than any of the plastic cages on the market and if I stand on any of the plastics, I'll end up inside it or at least my feet will. I can stand on mine and bounce up and down without even a squeek.

This is a dual arboreal cage I made for a pair of emeralds.
The 8x3x2 cage on the bottom is a burm cage made of tileboard. The 3 cage on the top left are all precision plastic cages. The dividers in them are tileboard though. The dividers help the sagging problem. Top middle is a barrs cage. The rest are the first few tile board cages I ever built. I made that bottom one on top of the burm cage too short. That threw off my whole stack lol...I made a lot of mistakes winging my way through all that but I think I have it down now.
It's also good for racks. here are some racks I've built.
Blanket rack (you can replace any blanket box with 2 sweater boxes on any shelf)
Little rack I built for Mark5019
And my amazon tree boa rack that I lovingly refer to as "ammieville horror"

Wish I lived closer, I'd pay you to make me some of those... the AmmieVille Horror is great. I like the little pvc tree set up as well. Always waiting to hear more tricks and tips for making these, I printed out the instructions now I just need to get some tools besides the one hammer and two screwdrivers I have. lol

The how-to is at the bottom of page two on this thread. There are some other threads out there with very similar designs and how-to's, and one has pictures of the process along the way. Something about a weekend project that took a few years? LOL Anyway, just look for the how-to, and when you go to your local supply store, you'll notice that it won't be that hard. The tile board is still pretty cheap and easy to use, and pretty darn strong. Just don't over complicate the matter, it's really pretty simple.

JS,
How thick of a plexi glass do you have on your burm's enclosure?

thanks guys...I hate that you are looking at that first cage though lol...I cringe every time I see that ugly thing lol
I use the thin stuff for every other cage but the burm cage has 1/4 inch plexi. If you drill holes for hinges, I don't know how long you will keep a burm behind 1/4 inch plexi. But when you fix 2 pieces on the sides for side windows that don't open, put in a reenforced litter dam with a sliding track for the middle piece, it should be fine. He has tested it a few times and he has hit it pretty hard when I have had to walk by with a dead rat or rabbit. So far, it's held up fine.
