QUESTION: Would a mod/admin explain the Rep Points & Green Dots?

I tried doing some research of VBulletin on my own. However, there doesn't seem to be a basic answer for the question. It looks like each owner can setup the rep power & "points" system as they like.

Would one of the mods/admin folks take a couple of minutes to explain how RTB.net is setup in regards to Rep Power and Green Dots, etc?

I couldn't find a 100% answer either, so I will tell you what I remember:

The "Rep Power" is more of a community driven thing. If someone thinks your answers/ posts are reputable, they can add to your rep power by clicking on the scales (above your stats, next to the post #).

I've never really given it much thought because it is community driven and if someone wanted to, they could add a lot to your rep power.

That is what I remember from when we had it available previously. Hopefully someone will be along to explain it in more detail.

One addition....

Unless it has changed, one person cannot continually give rep points to the same person. I tried it out on my wife's account before and I could only give here 1 or 2 positive reps before it told me I needed to rep some other people.

So what's cooler, rep power or green dots...and why aren't they related?

Rev has Power = 90 and only 1 dot

Brett's power is 20 and he has 6 dots

From what I remember before you can give somebody good points and also give somebody negative points.

OK, now we kinda-sorta (not totally) know what Rep Power is. It's like "street cred" for RTBers. LOL!

when i became staff i had 450! but all staffs are at 20 and stay that way. we cannot get anymore or we cannot have any taken away. if someone gives us good or bad all we can do is read it in the control panel. i want my points back

I think our Rep Power is stuck at 20, but our green dots still build up when Rep Points are given.

I just got a Rep Point today and it happened to push me over whatever the limit is to get my 4th dot.

So, although I can't say it for sure, it would appear as though our dots still increase...?

Yeah, they must, but maybe you have maxed out at 6?

Cuz I just got another rep point and a new green dot, but of course my rep power is still the Magic #20

Plus the fact that your 6th dot is glowing extra bright...could be a sign that it is the last dot, but that you've exceeded it.
