White-tailed Deer but no Black Bear *dialup warning*

Over the weekend spent a day hiking and looking for black bear on the Appalachian trail. Here's the western view from Stony Man, the second highest peak (4,011 ft.) in the Shenandoah National Park.

Never found any bear but the white-tailed deer were all over the place.

Got a little too close for this one.

Great pics!
How bad was traffic up there in Shen Nat'l Park... from what I can remember this time of year when it starts getting warm draws some pretty wicked crowds out there. I remember doing Skyline drive as a kid and having deer so tame that they would come up and eat of your hand!

Didn't spend much time on Skyline Drive, but there wasn't much traffic at all. Then again it's not that warm yet. Didn't see anyone on the Appalachian trail.
