Coyotes?
These were taken with my wildlife camera, but I need your help. "Experts" say there are no coyotes in NC, but many people have photographed them. I have seen and heard them around my house.
Is this a coyote?

For size reference, this is a fox taken with the same camera in the same place.

Re: Coyotes?
Coyotes are very common around here and that definiately looks like a coyote. Just the other night one was standing right in front of my grandmothers Akita barking its head off...Jimmy just went hmph and it took off...
He was probably tracking that fox lol

According to the Museum of Natural Sciences, in Raleigh, coyotes can be found in every county in North Carolina."
Here in VA we have them almost state wide with significant populations in SE VA along the NC border.
The top picture looks like a coyote to me.

Re: Coyotes?
Top is a Coyote for sure. I love the Gray Fox on the bottom, you don't ever see those.

Re: Coyotes?
Thanks for the input. I bought this camera hoping to catch a picture of a coyote. No one around here believes me when I say I have seen them. I have proof now!
John_White, thanks you for the The Upland Gazette. It was a very interesting read and explained a lot.
