WARNING: Animal abuser on the run

If you rehome or adopt out a pet, pls. consider person carefully. There's a convicted animal abuser that's on the run, placing ads on CL looking for pets to abuse.

Please...share with others and hopefully, addtnl deaths can be avoided.

No one likes animal abusers, and it is always a VERY good idea to screen anyone who gets your animals. But the last info on this guy looks like it is 4 years old; and in addition one post on the info above says that scammers have cadged donations purportedly to get him but then used the money for themselves, so it looks like his crime was compounded by others who took advantage of people's good nature:

Donation Defamation
The defamation campaign against Shon Rahrig initiated through collating false information, having an email message perpetuate animal groups around the country and posting over and over the same message 800-1000 times, sometimes phrased slightly differently on many sites with links back to the site where a person could donate money for the cause. A campaign of lies then started and each time they were generated they became a little more horrendous. The first lie originated when it was posted on a site that Shon Rahrig had tried to adopt another pet through a Pets Mart on Sawmill Rd. in Columbus. Of course he wasn’t even in town at the time or anywhere near a Pets Mart. (Later we found proof that Mary Poliseno was involved with her organization at this location) His probation department was called with a person trying to perpetuate a lie in which at the time they called Shon Rahrig to investigate. Shon Rahrig was in California at the time and had been there for some time. The lies would continue to grow and eventually several groups signed on to Mary’s campaign and perpetuated further lies around the Internet. The truth was not enough to get donations, so they lied and deceived people. These new sites would contain donation links in which the site promoted people giving money for its cause. This is why the lies were started, so that un-knowing grandmothers and animal lovers would take money out of their pockets to support these individuals’ expenses under the cover of non-profit organizations.

There is no question that is would not be a good idea to adopt out to this guy. But rather than only looking for him, I would take it one step further: Make sure you take the time to talk to ANYONE you give an animal to. There are some terrible people out there

There is also this link which seems to point that this is a scam, and not some serial animal abuser. It all seems a bit too brutal for a guy to just move around and adopt half a dozen animals at a time for the sole purpose of breaking their legs and cutting out there eyes. Sure theres case numbers and the like but how do we know those arent made up too?
