2 of my mice just had some pinkys. & I am soooo happy. I saw them all when they came out (hope you people don't think that is not a nice thing to see) & only 3 out of all did not live. Hey I have heard some people say that males eat the babies that is not true. Some males make good dads & wont eat them. & did you people know that a mouse can live up to 4 years. I had mice live that long. But I am not sure if thay can live longer.

It is true. Just because some male mice don't eat babies doesn't mean that none do. Most will. And even those that haven't so far probably will eventually if they are constantly given opportunity.

I can't speek for mice but i used to keep a pair of gerbles who had babies. I was younger and didn't know about the canabolism thing. Sure enough the male ate 3 of the for babies. Than again the male was a mean SOB. The female was extreamly nice and you could take her out all the time. The male on the other hand, every single time someone would take him out they would get niped.

This should help your pinkies!
This is a Goliath birdeater, he is just a baby. Fully grown, expect him to be bigger than a dinner plate.

Gibson, actually most gerbils make great dads. I bred gerbils for a while, and never lost one to cannabilism. Usually if one is ill or dies, the parents will dispose of it, but they rarely kill a healthy baby.

I breed mice, rats and gerbils and always leave the father in with them. If the cage is the appropriate size for the number of animals in it - cannibalism generally is not a problem. Its mainly an issue when the care is not adequate. Right now I have a gerbil colony with 10 gerbils in it and the females have been dropping babies, sharing responsibilities, and the males have been thumping, and protecting the nest... I haven't lost a litter to them being eaten yet.

Rav

UMm RAv.. Do say that is not all from one litter??? [ Which btw i don't really think it is , but could be wanting your "secret" if it is even lol]

My mice are a pita when it comes to breeding actually ! I have them in the equivalent of like a 55 gallon, on pine, water freash daily in a huge bowl, huge bowl of food daily, and there are only like 20 of them in there all total even. AND they still are intent on being canibalistic.. amongst themselves and the babies even. arghh. AND I also get the same thing in the other cage that is a 10 gallon with like 5 of them in it even... Soo what gives then with mine ? They just "weird" [ for lack of a better word to use here atm] or what then ?

Now on the other hand..my rats do great as breeding is concerned..I get large litters and no cannibals either. the only deaths associated with them are the ones that get waked for feeding is all.

Haha... thats ~100 pinks from ~10 breeders set up 2.1 in large Rubbermaid sweater boxes. I've not really had a problem with cannibalization, but every now and then I bring in a new female that is neurotic and will attack her cage mates. At first sign of aggression usually they become feeders; I don't want to lose more mice because of it. Keeping them well fed and watered is important. If they are missing nutrients or dehydrating, it becomes survival of the fittest. You might want to try a different feed. I've never had much luck with using aquariums unless I put a lot of tubes, hides and climbs for them. Mousey entertainment, and allows them to hide from each other if necessary. *shrug* not sure what else to suggest... it seems like I've just been lucky.
