You all will never believe that I took in ANOTHER needy creature 
(Who?Me?LOL)
I now am the proud momma of a cutesie little Hedgehog!We have named him Henry and he is absolutely the cutest thing!
He was kept in HORRIBLE conditions and is awfully small...underfed,dehydrated....and so on.
He was being kept in a rusty old drop cage for dogs and as a result has several sores and raw spots that need attention.The poor thing drank and ate endlessly(I am,of course, monitoring intake due to the extreme starvation and lack of water access previous to me getting him).He is currently snuggled into his FIRST hide and is very content!
I just LOVE him!!!!
(I will post pics as SOON as possible!)
If any of you know of any special toys or treats that they ecspecially enjoy,please feel free to mention it,I want to make his life EXTREMELY pleasant and happy!

AWWwwww poor little Henry! I'm so glad you took the poor guy in! It never ceases to amaze me what people will do to animals.
My friend has hedgies, and they absolutely adore small stuffed animals. They even tug them into their hides and cuddle with them! Things like beanie babies, or other soft little toys.

So far he is the SWEETEST little thing!He seems to be happy to be here and is being very nice to me  I HAVE to bathe him later in the week to get him cleaned up and I will let you know how that goes.
He really is so great!

I have one word to say.... Hedgehog Central
its a GREAT hedgehog forum (i have a hedgie myself, had three in total but I lost two this year, one to a spider bite and the vet could do nothing and my lil girl had a heart attack on her wheel)
ahh wheel...you need one of those, pref solid with no holes for little footies to slip through, meal worm they LOVE and if you have ANY questions feel free to PM me an i can answer your questions! BEst of luck on the lil one =)
Also he will need his nails trimmed, probably pretty bad as he's been neglected. Have you given him a bath? Baby soap like Johnson and Johnson No more tears works very well with a soft bristled Toothbrush.
Food: high quality cat food such as Chicken Soup for the Cat lovers soul, Royal Canin light 38(i believe) but you will want more then one high quality cat food in the mix 3-4 is Great! protine high and fat low.
Temp: 70+ or your little hedgie will try and hibernate which can and often will kill them
Mites: yes some times they get those nasty things as well. Look at the base of the quills and if they are flaking then you most likely have them

awww. I am really glad that you ended up with him. I hear hedge hogs are great pets, I hope something aweful happens to the previous owners tho, thats just scandleous.

Hedgehogs ARE wonderful pets, and most people who are allergic to other animals arent allergic to them so thats part of what makes them so popular. They are also quite adorable and great companions =)
Just watch out....because when a hedgie holds a grudge..he holds a grudge. Be prepared to have LOTS of mealies on hand to bribe him into a more friendly state =)
I love my lil boy to death and am gonna be getting another here soon, I still sorely miss the two that passed on this year but I think im ready to get him a friend

its a nice break when you work with herps for a while. i spend my time cuddling up with a rat. hedgehogs might be a litlle more sane! but i do need some pics ya here me!

Henry is doing well
He seems so happy to be here My kids just sit by the cage and watch him endlessly LOL
We gave him a small toy today and he walked towards it and hissed!It sound like a snake hissing and blowing lol We laughed and thought it was TOO cute,he finally accepted his new friend and drug it into his hide

Well,Henry LOVES meal worms and hates his veggies LOL but I will keep trying.He is very interesting and caring for a hedgehog is quite different than a reptile LOL and it has been so long since I've been around a hedgie!I really adore him already.Today was a good day.He was fairly active and seems to have more energy and appears to be feeling somewhat better!I'm hoping he has a quick recovery and lives a long happy life here!

LOL Actually,yes,he is pretty cuddly As long as you don't startle him you don't get poked lol
Darrell and I bathed him today and the wrapped him in a blankie and cuddled on the couch with him for over an hour and we all enjoyed it Henry seemed to appreciate our warmth lol

Update:
Henry is doing fabulous!The sores have healed up nicely and very little sign of them are left
He is a PIG!I think he eats so much because he still isn't sure if he will get food regularly.He is really starting to show his personality and is very interesting.
I watch him late at night when he comes out of his house for a snack and he is so funny.He is finally taking treats out of my hand and seems to like the attention.He still gets startled easily but I am sure it is because of his previous home....he is doing better and is less jumpy than when we got him.He loves to play with mini tennis balls and he LOVES to chase strings around lol he never gets them because he gets close and when it moves he curls up lol but he continues to chase them
He really is very snuggly and cuddly and seems to be content to curl up around my neck
I just wanted to let everyone know how he is doing

Its quite suprising how "Cuddly" hegies can be, when i first got mine i wouldnt have believed it. Has he annointed for you yet? Mine does it for..dirty socks..and ONLY dirty socks ^.^ but each to his own i guess.
