Nice the sport is weight pulling or something along weight etc lines. Thats what they are used for now. They are tough dogs and you need to excercise them ALOT. I would run 2 miles a day with my guy and at night he'd wrestle with me for hours. He liked to take cheap shots and go for my groin! Always a great dog. Sadly he was taken from me.

Dad looks like he was a retired fighter. The scars on his face and cropped ears lead me to beleive that.

What sex are you getting? I hate to talk you out of something you've researched on and feel is right for your family but I just realized you have a male pit and a female rott. Some dogs MAY be able to get along with same sex but that is a rarity. Even Summer and Cleo had their female scuffles and that is with Cleo being completely submissive to Summer. Two male pits are not a good idea and two female anythings are a risk. From my understanding pit bulls are dog aggressive dogs. I've know many who have more then one that keep them seperated at ALL times and it is a major job in itself caring for more then one for that reason alone.
I realize you are very excited, I'm begging myself to just be ready for a puppy and start healing from my loss and I know I will when the time is right.
I would also suggest getting A LOT more information on the parents of this dog. IF the dad is a retired fighter then I wonder who would be fighting a champion dog. Breeding is a huge responsibility, especially a breed that needs to protect is reputation. Where are the dogs registered? If it is CKC then I would run away as fast as I could run. I don't know that they would have them registered as "pit bulls or am. pit bull terrior with CKC. I'm not even sure I would trust an APBT registration but maybe another responsible pitt owner could help you with that organization. AKC, it would either be an American Staffordshire Terrier, or Staffordshire Bull Terrier. I would do some more research on the lineage and see that the parents were both temperament tested and at least one passed conformation.
I do not know much about pit bulls, they are not a breed of interest to me. I would find a good forum and give the names of the parents and some of the information about the pedigree and see if anybody has any information about the parents before considering buying a puppy and what testing should be done on parents and within the last 4-5 generations. When you have a $50.00 deposit for pick of the litter I'd hate to say that you are very likely getting a BYB pup and will very likely end up heartbroken.

You own a rottie from what your sig says? So you still own a pitbull, a rottie and then your getting a pup? You will have fighting between two pits no matter sex or pedigree or w.e they will fight each other. Pitbulls are dog aggresive period and cannot be trusted around any other dog. Also you rottie just killed you "chee" w.e that is and now you plan on adding another small dog (puppie) to the mix. What says your rottie wont do it once again? This just seems like a bad situation to me. The Rottie needs to be the only dog in that house if it has already killed another dog.

Yeah, i'm quite worried about you adding a pup into that mix, frankly that isn't fair to any of your dogs. Accidents happen, but that rott needs to be watched closely. If you do bring another pit into the house, it may be worth having a crate for each dogs and a muzzle for each (the nice basket type) when they're out together. Keep in mind, you may end up having a house divided by baby gates if you add another dog into the mix.
Seems daddy has a fighting history, that pup is going to inherit that spirit especially if he has trophies. You are begging to give away one of those dogs eventually, and will probably end up at the vet with an injured or dead dog if you aren't vigilant 24/7. Just BE CAREFUL.
EDIT: And not to discriminate by age, but at 15, you haven't really "owned" pits your whole life. Lived with them, yes. Been responsible for them and their actions, not really. If this is your pup. any consequences are on you. Frankly, this situation is like feeding live. Sure, goes okay 99% of the time, but that one time you could end up with a dead puppy. Nothing worse than that.

The dad's ears are cropped way too close. I think this whole thread is sad. You are getting a lot of advice from people in a lot of threads right now. I hope you're open to it. You're about to make a big mistake.
Do you think you're old enough to get married, or adopt a child? A dog is not the same, but it's a serious commitment (or should be).

Your response here is unbelievable! I'm glad you had the guts to say it though. You don't care if the father was used in dog fights.

Kind of makes me want to throw up a little. He was either fought by the owner, or was a rescue and is being bred. Either way, my tummy is not a happy camper.
Ever seen a bait dog with no teeth (because they've all been pulled out), no ears (because someone cut them off with kitchen scissors) and no voice-box(Likely removed by some butcher who would make venomoids in his garage for a buck)? You take care of one of those, and then tell me it's okay to support dog fighting.

Brought this over from the other thread. Those are some pretty characteristic scars. Even if he wasn't a competitive fighter, he has definitely been in quite a few fights. Not my pick for my "baby daddy."

K listen everyone. the rott says at my dads house the pit i already own is with me at my moms house where i live at on the weekdays.
I honestly dont beleive the dad was a fighter he is a kind dog. I called the ladie and asked her what sport was the dog in and she said weight pulling just like youngair said. second those arnt scars he has a elergic reaction to something. And what kind of makes me sick is to here i shouldnt get a puppie from them. I would be doing it a favor so it doesnt get sold or used as a fighting dog if that is the case. Why sould the dad dog mess it up for the pups if thats the case? So could we all chill. And i truely feel that you guys have gone down on me enough and its all started over nothing. so could be drop all the post at that please cause i'm just really tired of all this.

We just don't want either of the dogs to get hurt. And if the dad is a weight pulling dog, I highly doubt the lady would sell to people she even remotely thought would fight them. If you're set on this pit, get yourself a little girl and be very very careful.
I think what really got us is that you seemed to be okay with getting a pup even though we thought he might be a fighter. You didn't say you'd call the lady, you just said "maybe so, but he's stunning" or something like that. For someone who loves pits so much, that is a very strange reaction for us to hear.
