This thread is really old, but they are very cute pics!  Love the hugs MAG 
I liked rats as pets..As long as you keep their cage clean, they arent bad. MUCH better than mice or ferrets.. Although ferrets are really cute too.. They just take much more space

It's so easy to love something fluffy and cuddly, a hairless rat on the other side, ... uhm, how should I put this ... it's "different" to love something that's completely bold!  j/k
I think he's cute. He reminds me of my math teacher in highschool, just the glasses are missing (yeah, I had a crush on him back then <grins>).

Hairless mothers will not necessarily kill their young, What the problem is is that they cannot always produce very much milk. So the babies can't eat enough and then they die. The cannabalism comes from the mom eating the already dead carcasses. So that predators won't come and find her other ones.
If breeding a female hairless, also breed a female haired. That way, if one mother cannot feed her babies appropriately, then the other one can take care of them. You can tell if they are getting enough milk by the little white stomachs you can see through their skin.
