(giggle) how funny! Hope she's good for you also. Although watch out. Hampsters are notorious escape artists. I remember my brother having a few when I was a kid and his hampsters where always finding a way out of their cage.

Always wash your hands if you have been eating or handling food. Hamsters will bite your hands if they smell food on it, and thier bites kind of hurt.

RE: I got a new Pet!
Congrats on the Hamster.
We just recently adopted a Golden hamster that was at the local pet store free to a good home, so I knew that we could give him a great home.
We are using an extra birdcage to keep him in and he loves it. It has plenty of space for him to climb up the sides on.
make sure that you get a wheel for him to take a spin in, we got the kind that doubles as a ball that he can roll around in the room in as well for $6 at Walmart.
It is too funny to watch Hamlet chase the cats in his ball. He really is not afraid of them.
Just remember that Hamsters are nocturnal... up all night, sleep all day.
Have lots of fun with your new pet,
Connie

AAhhh! That makes me want a hampster!! I would love to let my cat play with it with one of those rolly balls. I'm bent on a ferret and a gecko right now. I already have a cage for a ferret so thats why I want one in particular. Yhe one I had years and years ago was great. He acted like he as viscous but he was really a sweetheart. He stick his tail up, arch his back, show his teeth, and run/hop after you. He loved chasing people. It was a lot of fun. Good luck with your hamster. The Teddy Bear ones are the cutest!!

Cretia,
That showing the teeth and jumping around is called the War Weasel Dance.. when ferrets get all excited.. they jump around.. mouth wide open.. its too funny.. and if you really get them going... they giggle!!! too cute!!

I heard monitors love hampster pinks. Maybe you should breed them!!! My sister had a teddy bear hampster, It got killed by the golden retrievers. She was crying when it started having seziers in her hand, then it died.
