Had the camera out and was just shooting random pics and managed to catch the ever elusive flying ferret. Note the look of enthusiasm on the cat's face.
And my latest aquisition... egyptian fruit bat. After knowing about him being tossed around by several owners who couldn't care for him properly, for several months, I finally managed to add him to my zoo. Sweet little guy, and a very messy eater. =)
Bored,
Rav

That shot of the ferret and the cat is classic. You should send that to some ferret magazine pic contest or something. The flying rat looks very cool too. I'm still wondering how in the #$%^$%^$%^$%^& you managed to find out about a pet bat.

I had a power outtage last night, my webserver isn't on my UPS so it was reset and didn't come back up properly. Its up now.
You just plain won't find bats commonly available. For one, the CDC doesn't allow them to be sold as pets. So any pet store that happens to carry them is begging for a shutdown and fine. Imagine if one person got bit, went to the hospital and blamed the store? It would be a lynch mob with torches and axes... anyway, I digress. The only way to get one is to find a breeder or a zoo offloading stock. Which again, they're not supposed to be selling to the general public anyway.

Just as a small bat aside, depending on the state (and considering native bat species), bats can be rabies vectors and legally should be turned over to a DNR officer to be tested, which involves cutting off their head and having their brain tested.
In North Carolina, the brown bat IS a rabies vector.

All native species are considered a rabies vector... but captive born exotic species are not. =)

This is true. I meant not to imply that yours was dangerous, rather that if someone should read it and try to capture one of their local bats as a pet, that they should be aware of the rabies risk.

There is actually very little risk. According to some recent CDC papers, the incidents of rabies in bats has been steadily dropping. The main problem is... bats can be carriers and never show signs of the disease. Native species are definitely not legal to be kept as pets though... at least not without a permit, which as of early this year, they are not giving any more out for at least another year or so.
