Aural Haematoma
Anyone have experience with this ear infection? My German Shepard has already been treated in one ear for this blood clot. I now believe it is occuring in the opposite ear.
Was a wopping 700$ for the first surgery, but since i caught this one early i hope it will be cheaper, since it is not as big.

OMG!!!!!! $700 for a hematoma?
That is outrageous!
We charge $80-$100 for anesthesia, and about $60 for the doctor's time, meds are of coarse extra.
There is an alternative to surgery if you are not worried about having a fully erect ear. They can drain it and inject it with cortisone/dexamethasone. Sometimes the procedure needs to be repeated.
Wow, I still can't get over the charge of $700.
Good luck!

Unfortunately the lump has gotten bigger and the ear is limp. He's going to a different clinic tomorrow now that we have an appointment.

Wish you were up here Reptscue. Any way I can slow down the blood travel? Also to ease some of the pain in his ear? I have some meds from his last operation. I have 2 capsules of clavamox. I have a bottle of, I can't read the name too well due to poor handwriting but it says, "Benadryl 25 mg." A bottle of 100mg of Doxycycline.

Update: My brother took him to the vet since I had to go to school. He was given a shot in his ear and the surgery will take place on Thursday. The cost will be $700 again.
