He's grown quite a bit since I got him, they're full grown at probably close to two. In captivity they tend to be more rotund than in the wild. 
I need to get some new pics, but really they aren't that large.

They are not related to rodents. They're actually closer related to cats, but they are in their own group of Carnivora called Herpestidae - along with some 30 other mongoose species, and meerkats. Which I suppose, that makes them herps.  They used to be classified in Viverridae with civets and genets, but that changed a while ago.
On a side note, most of the species in this family are banned federally in the US because of a fear of them becoming established in the wild here.

I suppose by you being in Antarctica, there's no need to worry about the cusimanse becoming established.
