Fleas on your cat/dog??? Read on
We adpoted a cat that came with fleas about a years ago. They are insidious and unlike reptile mites, they like to suck your blood too. anyway, I tried everything from vacuming to sprays etc and nothing was working. So I heard about Borax and decided to give it a shot. I cut a slit in a pringles can and sprinkled the borax around my carpet. Then I swept it in with a broom to make sure it really sunk in. I did this in conjuction with the typical flea sprays incase I found a hot spot of fleas and a home made trap which consisted of a candle on a dish of cooking oil(make sure to monitor these). The fleas are attracted to the light or heat, jump on the dish and drown in the oil. You can also use soapy water instead of oil.
Anyway, what every I did , it worked. Within about a week, the fleas were GONE. I also gave my cat a couple flea bathes just to be safe(note that I did this before the borax and it alone did not stop the fleas).
Basically, the borax does almost nothing to the adult fleas. But once the fleas lay eggs and enter the larvae stage, the borax dries them out, thus breaking the cycle. Google borax(or boric acid) and fleas and you'll find various instructions. I'm not sure if the borax alone did it or if it was a combo deal. Best of all, the borax is super cheap and the home trap is well, insanely cheap to construct. The onyl costly thing was the flea spray but again, whatever I did WORKED!!!

congratulations on the flea eradication. i had a problem with ticks. i would physically remove them. bathe the dog with countless shampoos. that collar that costs 5 milliion unmarked bills. the works. in the end they festered my house. had to call an exterminator. changed the dog's bed, everything. eventually getting rid of the little suckers. that was a mission and a half.

flea eggs hatch ever y4 to 6 weeks just an FYI The best way to kill the fleas is a typical treatment from your vet. Such as advantage, revoultion or frontline. A lot of over the counter flea products are toxic to cats. That cheap product can cpst you thousands to treat. Also vacuuming is the best carpets, couch, beds, etc then as soon as you are done empty the bag outside. It sounds like the borox worked but more eggs are going to hatch and flea collars also do not work. Good luck

With all due respect, I did this over 8 months ago and ZERO fleas are in my house now. ZERO. If they were still here, they would be hatching and jumping on my cat. You don't have to spend 30 bux on frontline to get rid of fleas. I'm not saying frontline doesn't work,, but it's not always necessary.
