But the picture shows that they are all reasonably polite, LOL. Having 7 of them is a real big chore, but it can be done. Sadly the pit bull was euthanized after she showed some really strange fear issues that seemed to get worse instead of better with time and training. I miss that dog. I wish she didn't have those issues because she was amazing when she wasn't having an "off" day.
Poor girl. 60 is pretty big too for a siberian female she looks healthy though

she looks like she has more fluff than my Kuhmo...

Honestly, I think 60 pounds is on the large side for a male... LOL
She's got crazy personality, though.
I love her to death, but my true love is with bully and molosser breeds. I would take another pit bull in a heartbeat under better circumstances.

That looks like crazy fun!

I'm 5' 3" and weigh 106 pounds soaking wet... I don't think I could wear the sleeve if I chose to work a 120 pound presa! LOL

Although I'm sure I could handle one.

The hardest part of working Presas is as with most of the Molosser breeds, they don't hit very hard but they try to drag you down. Once they bite they just drop their butts and drag their feet. Giant dead weight. Great dogs, I love them. If you get one though don't look for big parents... most of the working lines try to keep them smaller, like in the 90lbs range. Same with the Cane Corsos. The bigger the dog the shorter they live and as they age they fall apart. Smaller stays healthier longer.

I think I can handle 90 pounds just fine. I do see them on the larger side, but they come from back yard breeders around here and that's definitely what I avoid... A lot of the ones bred like that have horrible temperaments and are super defensive. The "worst" dog I ever met was a 125 pound presa that was boarding at the clinic for a weekend. The owners had to drag him in with a muzzle and we had to treat him like a rabies quarantine because if you tried to move him... he would most likely kill you! I have never met many dogs that you would call psycho, but that dog definitely qualified. He died of renal failure at 7 years, probably due to his size, but mostly due to the fact he had to be anesthetized every time he came in for shots or nail trims. They basically fried his kidneys because he was so unmanageable. I met some other ones since then that were very handleable, but they had horrible structure and hip/elbow problems. Every one. Same with Cane Corsos.

My parents didn't know any better when they bought me my Siberian 8 years ago and she has hip dysplasia. She's on the larger side for that breed by about 20 pounds!

Re: Last chance.....

I agree with MalinoisK9. The fact that you have disciplined this dog when the bad behavior was not caught in the act has made the dog think that every now & then you just go ballistic on him for no reason & he's tired of taking it, hence his aggression. Your tone/leash/& everything gave it away, even though you didn't think so. This may be the wrong dog for you (and/or one too many pets)...sorry to say....I think a shock collar without a pro trainer will backfire on you.

Re: Last chance.....

well...Worse news with Koda... He decided he was going to do more bad stuff and when I saw him tearing up a Pizza box, he ran... I went to yell at him and he bit me... Not little snap like the other day... But like, HARD bite to the point I think I need to go to the Doctor for an Xray, and I may lose my thumbnail...

He's done... I'm sorry, but when he does this kind of serious damage, I will not deal with it... I have lost any caring I had for this dog now... When he did it I threw him on his back HARD and told him NOO! Which only made it worse... He fought and twisted and just barely missed another bite... He's lucky I had any restraint.....

It's your call of course, but I'm sure he would be just fine in the right environment. I would call a breed rescue or a shelter and see if they can find him a home.

Re: Last chance.....

Sakara I am so sorry it ended like this, and I hope that you can find a good owner and home that is suitable and therapeutic for Koda. You tried your best and now it's time to give him another chance eleswhere. Good luck to Koda!!!

This has been a very interesting and vibrant thread, by the way.

Re: Last chance.....

IMHO. Basically it all boils down to whatever actions it is you are doing that is making negative effects for Koda and you are not making it better. I believe his biting you is because he's scared of you when he senses your heightened negative emotions and tone... scared that you will hurt him. He needs rehabbed and you need trained. Dogs just aren't a pet you can get and expect them to be good from the start without doing a LOT of research of the breed or known breed mixes (mutts).

Thousands of good dogs that never get their 2nd or 3rd chance at life die every single day in shelters. Koda is lucky enough to be in ANY home right now and have anyone that should be willing to have the patience and time to devote to making him a great companion dog.

That is all.
