Re: Sickly Siamese
I'm so sorry Star He's such a pretty boy... Poor baby... It sounds like a kidney issue That's what happened to my first Siamese
I know he's had a wonderful life with you though! And he's lived a LONG time! Whatever happens with him, just remember that you have done the best you ever could for him and he loves his mommy.

Re: Sickly Siamese
I'm so sorry Sherri, our lynx point who was about 18 years old died about a month ago from kidney issues, she was totally blind by that time too though It seemed like it was for the better.

Re: Sickly Siamese
Thanks, guys. If I hear from the vet tomorrow that he's in renal failure, I will be pretty devastated. I'm hoping against hope that I can still have a year or two with him.
I know I gave him a better life than he could have ever wished for. He was abandoned by 2 sets of previous owners and was declawed on all 4 paws by a former owner. The shelter where I found him said that he was found wandering the streets with a tag and collar. The people who found him called the number on the tag and his former people didn't want him back. I can't even imagine the heartlessness of some people. He has always been treated like a king at my house.

Re: Sickly Siamese
This poor cat is like a skeleton. He has trouble getting on and off the bed, but he jumped off the bed to get in my lap just now while I'm on the computer. I put him back on the bed, and he jumped right off and got back in my lap. He's so wobbly, he can hardly walk. Poor little thing. he weighed in at 4 lbs today.

Re: Sickly Siamese
You and your baby will be in my thoughts. Having recently lost my best boy, Herman, I know the devestation you feel at the thought of being without him. Please keep me posted, and know that I'm holding out hope for you, and for your baby. I know you will do what is right for him, even if it hurts your heart.

Oh Star I'm so sorry. I really hope you two have a little bit of time left together. Now I'm going to go get a tissue and stop crying on my keyboard.

I won't have results until tomorrow. Poor baby just ate a few bites of Fancy Feast, then tried to poop again. He hasn't been able to poop for a few days, though the vet said he isn't constipated, just dehydrated. So now he is back on my lap.
I'm fighting the tears until I get the results tomorrow. Nothing is final until I hear from the vet. But I'm pretty sure the kidneys will get him.

Re: Sickly Siamese
honestly... If his kidneys are that gone, there is nothing you can do.... I hate to say that, but that is exactly how my baby girl was the day before we had to take her in to end her suffering
Star, at the very least, at least you can be there with your baby to comfort him... I wish I could have done the same for my baby... My mother took her in without telling me while I was in class

Re: Sickly Siamese
If hes dehydrated the vet SHOULD intervenously inject a large syringe of fluid into his side.....it will rehydrate him pretty quickly......my cat had a severe GI blockage (bird bones) and couldnt eat or poop either, it helped him alot

Re: Sickly Siamese
I don't know why the vet didn't hydrate him today. Whatever is wrong with him, I will probably start giving him subcutaneous fluid with electrolytes daily. Other than that, if he is not in extreme pain I will NOT have him put down. I will let him die at home in peace.
