Puppies!
Okay, I think I've waited long enough that I won't get jinxed this time. Ch. Kettle Cove Lanikai Blue Sky, "Goose" was bred to Am/UKC Ch. Tyobi Simply Dynamite WAC, CGC, DH and produced 5 black girls, 2 black boys and 1 red boy.
And there are BABY PICTURES!!! I'm not sure which is mine yet, but everyone cross fingers for that little red boy. Thanks to Sharon Karam for helping to bring these little babies into the world and giving me the chance to bring one home. I'll update this thread every time new pictures are posted.
Here's Mom and Dad. Click "puppy pictures" to see wittle babies.

Re: Puppies!
Thanks Angel. Still no idea which one is mine, probably won't know until the puppies are evaluated for show potential. Most don't judge pups until the 10th week or so. For now I'm loving them all.

Re: Puppies!
What cuties....
Just a question... are you getting the ears cropped? If so, are you doing it or will s/he come already healed and taped from the breeder?

Re: Puppies!
Ears are being cropped, and I believe her vet uses the laser technique. I'm bringing the pup home at 13 weeks, ears will be plenty healed and taped before I even get my hands of the pup. Her vet seems to use the technique of skinbonding the healing ears to the head. Looks to me like that may reduce bumping those edges and letting a lot of air get to them.

Re: Puppies!
If ya gotta do it, the laser is the only way to go. Just too bad they are vWD carriers. I don't know how they know how the pups will be just carriers and not affected. I guess just genetics.
They are beautiful!!

Re: Puppies!
Dobes have type I vWD, which in canines is autosomal recessive. Thank goodness.
VetGen: Veterinary Genetic Services - Canine - References - DNA Studies in Doberman von Willebrand's Disease
Info from VetGen
"Dobe *carriers* with abnormally long bleeding times are not common. Dodds, Johnson and Stokol et al. have all reported that animals do not usually bleed excessively when they have factor levels greater than 36% of normal (Dodds, 1982; Johnson et al., 1988; Stokol et al., 1995). Carriers will occasionally go below this level, but usually not by very much. Surveys of fairly large numbers of animals have been conducted, and the data appear to show the expected trimodel distributions for number of animals vs. factor concentrations (Dodds and Covey, 1981; Moser et al., 1996; Johnson et al., 1988; Stokol et al., 1995). By extrapolating the overlapping curves it can be seen that carriers do not dip into the danger range more than occasionally. Therefore, the fear that an animal who tests as a carrier might someday suddenly become a severe bleeder because of the dominant, incompletely penetrant scenario is completely negated. Occasional carriers might have bleeding times that are prolonged, but these are the exceptions. Clear animals will never bleed abnormally, due to hereditary vWD (the removal of the disease gene should be, after all, the eventual goal)."
