DYING to know!
Argh! The doberman girly that is hopefully carrying a puppy with my name on it is either 37-38 days pregnant today. Around day 40, you can be pretty sure your female is pregnant. I may die of anticipation before then. ::sigh:: The pedigree on these pups is incredible, and I just want to know what the devil they look like!

Oooh, tell us more. Is the pedigree online by chance? Where are pictures of momma?
Will you be putting her through conformation? Agility or any other sport? And, of course enjoying all that dobie love and kisses.

I'm not sure if the breeder is cool with me advertising the breeding around until the pups are on the ground, but daddy could either be Ch. Telstar's Icon (...good lord, the pedigree on this beast.), Catawba's Captain Marvel, or Ch. Patriot's Opposites Attract (won best stud at nationals). Opie and Mr. Icon are both in the tail male line I believe.
Anywho, i'm looking to do schutzhund, rally, obedience, tracking, agility, maaaybe some flyball, heck, i'd do herding if the pup wanted to. Lots of fun all around.

Hoping for a red. Man...I hope I know what i'm getting myself into. :-p I'm okay with either sex, just want a good temperament. Mom is a red, as is the sire, so chances are pretty solid for a red pup.

Don't I know it! The pup is my graduation present from my parents, and I couldn't be more thrilled. I'm trying to figure out which sex to choose because my parents' house currently contains a pretty submissive and paternal golden and a much more dominant boxer girlie pup. About 6 months.
Now, this pup isn't a family dog, he/she is mine, so she wouldn't be running around with the other dogs unsupervised, ever. The pup is in a crate/expen set up when i'm not home, or outside with me, or upstairs playing toothy face with the other dogs, with me. I'm just worried about taking home a girl b/c of the boxer, but there are so many more boy/boy stories to worry about with the golden. The breeder thinks i'm quite capable and the set up will be fine, but I don't want to end up with anyone at the vet. I think i'll invest in some nice roomy muzzles for everyone until i'm sure everything is peachy keen. I may have to revoke everyone's couch privileges again until they prove they can be nice and not resource guard though. Either way, should be an absolute blast.

Hum, tough one. Even if the golden is submissive and paternal a male dobe may not be so thoughtful. I've always prefered my dobes to be submissive to anything and everything, me other dog, kids, etc. My preference (I can't believe I'm saying this) with dobes is male. ((((****God, I love you Cleopatra****)))) Males are the true velcro dog where females are just a teeny bit more independant. A male will definitely get along better with the dominant boxer however a female/female is not usually a good idea it CAN work as is in the case of my very dominant mix and Cleopatra. Cleo grew up knowing that Summer was the Queen and there was never any doubt. But, there were scuffles even though Summer adored Cleo there were the female jealousy scuffs coming from Summers side. Cleo would not hold a hand up to her, or tooth, or paw, whatever, EVER.
I would talk it over with the breeder and other dobe people or other dominant dog people and decide.
Don't second guess yourself. You have obviously done your research down to the food, obedience, and have sport plans. That is the most important thing with this breed, they have a job to do and get praises for doing it, always positive reinforcement.
I was very young when I got my first one, if you call 20 young, LOL. We didn't do obedience and I wish I did as I really enjoyed it with Cleopatra, but we worked hard to have a great relationship. IMHO you can't beat a precious dobe. They are the absolute best and I've had two to prove it. I will guarantee you that one day my heavenly babies will guide me to the one that is to become my next family member.
Oh, a red dobie boy. Are you going to crop his ears?

Yep, we're going with a crop and dock plan. Breeder wants to wait until week 12 to send the pup home so that the ears heal. Fine by me, I don't need the stress of a fear period.
I too would like a boy, and both dogs are altered. Connor, the golden, is a serious wuss, but he doesn't speak dog very well. He does however, listen very very well. I personally would feel okay with raising a male pup there as I won't be staying more than a year and no one is unsupervised. No toys together, no chewies, nothing to guard. If I was staying for 2 years, I may feel differently. I'm seriously worried about that boxer girl, she's well under control, but I worry she isn't getting enough socialization. I'd rather get a male that treats her like the queen of the house and deal with beta male squabbles. They obviously won't be top dog, and as long as I don't give them a reason to go at it, I think we'll be okay. I want a big giant red boy that tries to step on my spleen when I sleep and pushes me off the bed with his big oafishness. ::sigh::
My problem is that a dog that would be successful at agility and schutzhund is probably not going to be on the submissive side, and I already KNOW the boxer is dominant. It seems smarter to me to bring home a pup I expect to be a butthead to Connor who enjoys pups and won't mind being the omega of the pack, then to bring home a bratty female to another bratty female.

I think so too, but dobie boys don't get their brains delivered until they are 3. I'm totally asking for fun fun trouble. Hehehe...

Bah, more fun then trouble. Hope your mom isn't too fond of her couch though. Teee-hee. Lesson learned to go to the bathroom with the door closed ONCE. Never mistaken again. LOL.

if you get to pick from the litter remember not to pick the most craziest and hyper and not to pick the shyest one..pick somewhere in the middle for a balanced dog...
none of those crazy breeds get thier brain until thier 3..dobies..boxers..rotties..standard poodles..but I love it

This breeder has been at it for a long time and knows what's up, i'm letting her pick. I always fall in love with the "broken" ones. My hedgie only has 3 toes on each foot and Bowie was a runty runt. She knows what I'm looking for, so she can assign a pup to me. I'll be in love either way.
As for the bathroom, i'll probably have that munchkin on a drag line for a little while, he won't have a choice but to keep me company. I mean c'mon, I could escape through the window or get eaten by something in the toilet! They have to keep you safe.

Ill never give up my famales.... Males IMO tend to be more goofy. And females more protective. Nope my red girl is staying.....
Who are you going through??? A breeder friend of mine might know them. And you're making sure the parents are tested, right??
