Think Im going to die
My dogs been sick for the past two days, vomiting, not drinking and not eating much. Yesterday he did a lil better, ate a few pieces of deli meat and drank quite a bit. Hes been very lethargic...all the symptoms of Parvo minus one..this morning when i let him out he displayed the last sign..I dont know what to do, he gets to the vet today if my husband can get off work, but lord am i soo scared. He's my Heart Dog to borrow a term and I love him dearly. I skipped work to day because i couldnt leave him alone again, guess its a good thing I did.

Thank you so very much. The worse thing about this is he's eight years old, and has been healthy his entire life. I dont know how he got it. So confused.

Did he have all his shots? Parvo is airborn so if he has it he could have gotten it any where. What state do you live in?

Sorry to hear about your dog. I would say get him to the vet ASAP.
I have seen a dog pass from parvo. A very unpleasent site.
Good Luck.

He's had his parvo shots before, and yes he's at the vets right now so we'll see if indeed it IS parvo (Hopefully not, but Ive seen it before and this is what it looks like) so im sure that being the strong healthy fellow he is, he'll be ok
Thank you all for the kind words and support, you are a true family
I live in Oregon to answer your question

I feel so sorry for you. I'll keep you and your heart dog in my prayers. I had a pup die of parvo also and it was horrible. It was from what they called "second shot syndrome". Hopefully you caught this on time and he'll make a recovery.

PARVO IS NOT AIRBORN!!!!!!!!!!!!
A dog gets it from being around infected fecal matter.
Quote:
WHERE DOES VIRUS COME FROM?
Remember that this virus has been around for nearly 20 years, is very hard to disinfect away, and is shed in large numbers by infected dogs. This means that there is virus everywhere: on every carpet, on every floor, in every yard and park. Virus is shed for the first 2 weeks or less after infection in the stool of an infected dog but only a tiny portion of infected stool (which could be months old depending on the environmental temperature and humidity) is needed to infect a non-immune dog. Some dogs become what is called subclinically infected, which means they do not appear particularly sick. These animals tend not to be confined since no one knows they are infected thus they can spread virus around a large area depending on where they leave their droppings. [/b]

This only happens in puppies... Not vaccinated adults dogs.

Not to make any inferences on your parenting, but is there a chance that he got into something that he shouldn't have and ate it? Good luck...hope all turns out well.

See him getting into anything would be...HIGHLY unlikely. He doesn't get into the trash (Which is covered anyway) The cleaning chems are in a locked cupboard and when we do throw away those bottles its in the outside trash, outside of his gated, fenced back yard. So I reaaalllly Do not know what he would have gotten into. We only have two plants in the house, a Christmas cactus which sits far back on the kitchen counter and a pathos which is hung. there is nothing in his yard save grass. He only goes out there for bathroom breaks and gets his main exercise during our walks.
Once again I thank you all for the kind words. He's getting IV fluids right now and are running the needed tests. I get to find out more tomorrow so will let you all know then.

Zsanorah, if your vet doesn't know what it is, you can always get a second and third opinion. I had a vet tell me that 60% of mystery illnesses respond to antibiotics when all esle fails. You can also try plugging in his symptoms online and see what the internet comes up with. I successfully diagnosed a cat recently that way when the vets were stumped.
You are in my thoughts. Please keep us posted.
