Iams or Eukanuba
My grandmother used Eukanuba for her rottweiler Gerta, and she lived a really really long time. I would say Eukanuba and Iams kinda tie each other as far as quality goes. Most other dog foods have a lot of fillers in them like corn, or artificial red coloring.
We use Iams for our black lab and he's super healthy and has a really shiny coat.

Hmm... I've never heard of it but the ingredients of it definitely look promising.
Before we fed our lab (Joe) Iams we were feeding him some Walmart brand called O'l Roy that my uncle was feeding him when my uncle was first keeping him for a little bit... and Joe's poo was abnormally large and discolored as if what he was consuming was just going right back out... and his coat wasn't real soft and shiny either..
So finally after we got through the rest of that bag and started getting Iams, his poos were normal-sized and the color of it was normal.. and he just got a whole lot healthier from it.. and his coat is nice and soft and shiny now.

Our vet recommended Eukanuba but for some reason it gave our dog terrible gas (and lots of it). The vet then recommended Science Diet and that has worked well.

Well I'm gonna say what works best for us is Iams... if you wanna go with the Natural Balance, I don't see any problem with it. Probably the best as far as natural ingredients goes.

My dogs are on a raw diet.
Natural all the way. I go to the local asian market and pick up all kinds of neat stuff for them. They also get what I call Veggie Slop 2 - 3 times a week which is eggs, yogurt, mulched up cabbage, sweet potatoes, and other random veggies with one fruit.
Here are some benefits:
People who have switched their dogs to a raw diet from commercial dog foods have found the following:
* dogs who were previously un-energetic, and sluggish become completely new dogs once the raw diet feeding begins
* allergies their dogs previously had on commercial foods, disappear once they start with the raw diet
* arthritis has significantly reduced or disappeared in some dogs switched to raw
* better weight control
* no more doggy odour!
* their dogs are living longer on a raw diet than what their other dogs previously had survived on commercial dog foods
* better weight and survival figures in puppies
Read more about it here:
BARF for Beginners - Most Frequently Asked Questions
If you want to use a dog food, go with a all natural type. I use Nutro Ultra when I go out of town or leave my dogs with someone else. Its the only "kibble" I have found that they will both eat, and are not allergic to.

FYI, I have boxers which are known for terrible gas. On the all natural diet they almost never have gas. There poop is also half the size and decays after a day unlike when they eat kibble which leaves that nasty orange poop that stays in the yard for weeks

the best dog food is Wellness..it is all natural..not too high in protiens..which most other dog foods are..your dog will have nice poops, go less often b/c it is absorbing and using all. It is what most high end breeders use or the BARF diet.

Most of the hard-core dog nuts that I know reccomend Wellness Pet Foods
I use Dog-Natural Choice for dogs and puppies because I feel that it offers a nice ballance between a super-premium dog-food and a price that I don't cringe over.
Look for corn products in the ingredient list. Corn is NOT your friend.

Another healthy food item you can feed your dog is beans... and it doesn't give them gas because they already have the bacterial enzymes to digest the beans without giving them gas.

B & B get Iams (made by Proctor & Gamble - same company that make Eukanuba). Check this out:
AAFCO Dog Food Standards
Also, if you Google AAFCO (the Association of American Feed Control Officials) then you can look up the standards for pet food Fun Stuff!
