He loves Iams because its like dog candy. That stuff is so bad for your dog. Do you take your kids out to fast food joints everyday? If you do, then by all means feed your dog the same way.
If you try to give your kids natural healthy foods (home cooked or from a good source) then do the same for your dog...there are plenty of good healthy kibbles out there and of course the all natural raw meat/bones diet with occasional table scraps.

That is interesting about the garlic. Cats too I imagine. I never had fleas on my pets until the summer before last when we had them bad. This summer nothing. I think they even had articles about the bad flea season that particular year. I was furious.

Nicole,
While I agree with Shane that BARF really is probably the best, I punched New Jersey into the "Find a Retailer" search on the Wellness website.
Where to Buy
There are quite a few.

It really works. My mom stayed with me a few years ago and had her dog stay with mine. Her dog ate normal kibble and had fleas bad. My dogs never got fleas even though they slept together with her dog. Once she switched her dog over the fleas went away after a week.

At the beginning of this thread people mentioned Iams or eukanuba as some of the best food--which is why I got it. The food I was given with the dog was OlRoy which is walmart dog food. I mean, I'll say it again--I'm not a dog person, I'm still learning...so go easy people
I have the Iams--and thanks to Morti--I now have an address of a pet shop that is within a normal distance from my home so I can try wellness.
I think if you knew how far most things were from my home --everyone would understand the need to conserve time. (I am in the boonies)
But this thread has been informative, so thanks to everyone for the time and posts.

I think at one time Iams and Eukinuba (sp) were some of the best. I belive that they were even used for the U.S. Military dogs during Viet Nom since they had high quantities of meat and thereby dogs had little odor and small stools. That changed after the war. A great place to look at dog food is on a site called "sled dog central". These folks are constantly researching foods. Truthfully I cant tell alto of differnce between diamond and Iams, except price. Have noticed that you can tell alot by the food as to how much you feed. A supposedly cheap food isnt so cheap when you have to feed 2 to 3 times as much due to corn and other fillers. Also its amazing how many fillers there are rice, corn, brown rice A good one), beet pulp... and so on. Hope the name is correct "the whole dog journal" is pretty good to check out. They dont accept adds or donations so its likly to be more unbiased.
