Rescue me!
.. from this big puppy!
.
I inherited this rascal 8-month old shepherd from a neighbor who moved out. Her name is ChaCha.. and she's wild as a weasel! Of course this all happens in the middlle of our only week of winter (so far) and right after I spend a week tearing down the north fence! Oh well, you're only young once!.
.
She has only the cyclura for company out back for now, she's not coming near the house until the thousands of fleas that call her home die or leave.
.
Thanks for looking.

Very nice looking Shepard. Slip a few chunks of Garlic in her food. That helps with the fleas. Good luck with her they are very smart dogs.

What a sweet looking face. Poor girl is infested with fleas? Nasty buggers. My pets have never had them until the summer before last and I was so infuriated. Actually used pesticides in my yard which is a big no-no for me. Thankfully I got them taken care of and they didn't return. Knock on wood they won't be back.

I love Shepherds. They are complete hyperactive goofballs few the first few years, but they are such fun, loving, and intelligent dogs. I wish you luck with her,

The heat here can be hard on some long-haired dogs. Right now she just wants someone to pay attention to her (and play). A lot of people here don't know what a commitment they are making when they get a dog, especially one of the larger breeds.
.
There's an interesting story behind me getting her.. (I'll try to keep it short). My neighbor of 30+ years recently sold his home. The people who bought it were 'flip-this-house' kind of buyers.. from up north. They really only bought the place to resell it. I am not putting them down, they seem like nice people.. anyway after putting some work on the place (and buying a dog) and looking around they decided to sell.
.
They never paid much attention to that nice dog (she's a little small for her age too) and she would bark all the time and at any hour out of boredom or whatever. I never made any attempt to get to know the dog but when she was especially excited I would talk to her through the fence while I was working outside. So.. when these people were packing the last stuff to go they let the dog out to come with them and she runs wiild up and down the street with all her pent-up play and energy. They holler and chase her but she won't come and almost gets run down a couple of times in the street.
.
It's a fact that I've always gotten along with dogs.. I asked my neighbor if he wanted me to catch the dog (he's not especially athletic) and he said please do! I yelled at ChaCha to come and she ran right up to me and lay on her back on my feet (laughing). The guy was about to bust with anger! at me or the dog I don't know.. but an hour or so later he came over and asked me if I would take the dog. I said yes.
.
That's the story!

Great story. She will forever be by your side and be true to you. I have a shepard/husky and to her I am the only thing that matters.

I hate fleas!! and they love me.. my old dog Pizza who passed this last year (13 years!) was a flea magnet and she rooted like an old pig for places to lay in the dirt and stay cool.. (I think she also ate dirt). She liked to be bathed and did not mind me dipping her, putting on Frontline, Sevin dust-baths.. NOTHING would work on her.. she got buried with her fleas.
.
BTW she was 1/2 Pit bull and 1/2 Rottweiller, a very imposing 100lb brindle colored animal, her neck was larger than her head and no collar would stay on her! Also she was completely loyal and would go at anything she thought was wrong (including three illegals I was tussling with in the yard late one night over my lawnmower). I never saw her use bad judgement. But she was given to me when she was age 13 months when out of nowhere she attacked the little girl who's pet she had been since birth. Luckily no permanent damage done.
.
That's another story.

Aww...I had a dog like Pizza..lol
Crazy mutt! He ate dirt, rocks, and some other more questionable items he'd find in the yard or trash..LOL My dog was given to me by the pound (same story with my cat..I really should do something about the "Sucker" I obviously have tattooed on my forehead) under the guise that he was a Blue Heeler puppy, and wouldnt get that big..LOL.
Turns out, He was a BLUE TICK COON HOUND/LAB mix...lol When I got the dog, he weighed 5#, and I think 4 of it was fleas. He reached around 65-70# and not a bit of fat at adulthood. He was huge! Best dog I ever had. Bandit was smart enough to look stupid when he was in trouble, which wasnt that often. He was real gentle with kids, agressive with people who came to the door, and a great defender of his family. He would patrol from room to room at night, checking on things. One night, the ex left a cigarette burning and it burned a big hole in the living room carpet, and Bandit woke me up. When I got in the room, it was smoldering, but not flaming, so I got it out easily, but I always felt safe knowing he was around.
I love G. Shepherds too, they really make great companions. Mine constantly had my back. They were easier to train than most other dogs I'd had (like my mom's Yorkies, or my Chihuahua..eeessshhh neurotic little furballs with teeth).
Please keep us updated, I'd love to hear more about her shenanigans

I really miss my dogs. I lost my Boxer AND my American Bulldog this year. Those are two very loyal breeds as well. I love German Shepards... but their long hair (that gets all over the place) is just too much for me.

awwww gus! shes so cute! i love big dogs.... one of my bosses at a therapeutic riding center i worked at had a shepard, and she was sooooooo funny. shes the only dog i know who could climb ladders and wind up on the barn roof. she died a few years back from old age
good luck with that dog, if you ever feel like switching up things a bit with your photos, id love a few of her
as for your other dog... im sorry she passed on. its never easy to lose a companion like that. but she sounds like she had the sama appetite that my old golden retriver (Alex) had. rocks, dirt, cat poo, watermelons still on the vine, corn stalks (but not the corn!), tomatoes.... he used to dig up my carrots too! library books were his favorite things, he even learned how to open the closet door to get them
Pizza sounds like she was a great companion, perhaps this new girl might be a good companion as well.
after her fleas go away, give her a big ol kiss for me

The first few years of all my dogs lives I could only sneak pictures while they were resting. The rest of them were mostly blurry shots of a behind (or a closeup of nothing but big red nose with my male dobe). Eventually they calm to give you a few seconds to focus. I say keep the precious baby and love her and spoil her. She obviously chose you for a reason.
