Louise, that seems to be the most important point so far. And if you feel that way, you would probably act in a diligently responsible manner to insure your pet was secured.

I had a cat that randomly attacked people. He was an 18 pounder that drew blood. Not scratches - lacerations. A friend took the cat after I had kids, and the cat made her 75 pound lab hide under the bed. I asked the vet what to do, and the vet said, "It is irresponsible to pass this dangerous animal on to another household, since you know it attacks without provocation. As much as I hate to say it, you should put him down." With tears, that's what we did. I loved old Sam, but not enough to let him hurt people.

PS - I can't wait to see Chance's new enclosure.

... you mean you have a 115 pound Great Lap Dog? In my experience, great danes, pitbulls, golden retrivers, huskies, and all labs have the idea imprinted in their mind that they CAN fit into the lap of a human, and fit very well. then they give you a "what happened???" look when they CANT fit and fall off LOL

VERY VERY true!!! Once, with my old dogs, Brandy and Alex, we went to this place near Donner Summit to play in the snow. my sister and i built a fort, my dad built a fort, and we had a huge snow ball fight. the dogs were having fun trying to catch the balls in the air... but when my dad ran out of snow balls, and rushed at my sister and i with a HUGE bucket of snow to dump on us, tripped and fell and pushed us into the snow bank, Alex was there quick as a flash, teeth on his arm, with a soft growl... he didnt know my dad was goofing around, didnt know dad tripped, he saw it as an attack.

i couldnt agree more gus! just like stupid and irresponsible dog owners put the crunch on the breed and ownders of the breed, its the same bloody thing with stupid "mr macho" types who want to own a large "totally cool" constirctor or "super cool poisonous snake".... it puts the pressure on responsible owners, and the various species of snake!

yup... my parents have 2 goldens, megan and charlie... they are the sweetest things ive ever known. but down the street from us? theres a golden with an attitude problem. i wouldnt trust myself around that dog in a kevlar body suit with a wall of flame between the dog and me. its a ticking time bomb, and theres nothin i can do about it (ive tried). one of the mothers in the neighborhood has opened her backyard (which is HUGE) for all the neighborhood kids to play in when that dog is out.
