Pitbull dogs in the news "Suspected" Dog fighting ring..
300 pit bulls seized after fatal shooting in Liberty County
CLEVELAND, Texas — About 300 pit bulls were seized by authorities on Monday after the dogs were discovered in a Liberty County home suspected of being a base for a dogfighting ring.
Liberty County officials discovered the dogs after investigating a fatal shooting during a robbery last week at a home in Cleveland, located about 45 miles northeast of Houston.
Thomas Weigner, 27, the owner of the 23-acre property, bled to death after being shot in the leg, said Liberty County Sheriff Greg Arthur.
Weigner's wife, father-in-law and three children were tied up during the incident, but were not hurt, Arthur said.
Authorities believe Weigner bred the dogs for fighting and shipped them across the country.
"At this time, we don't believe it was a random home invasion," Arthur said. "We do believe there's a connection (to the dog ring)."
Authorities found no evidence that pit bulls fought on the property, but Houston Humane Society officers said there were 75 pups in chicken-type coops. The rest were chained to ground spikes, living in standing water and their own waste.
Investigators estimate all the dogs on the property could be worth $500,000 to $1 million.
The animals were being transported to a Humane Society wellness center in Houston, where they would be evaluated.

and probaly all of those dogs will be killed because of their aggression, that sucks.
i love pit bulls it is the owners fault for mean pit bulls and other dogs.i have seen nice pit bulls and mean ones and ones that play rough.my dads friend has one that he plays rough with,i mean hitting and biting kind of rough but the dog is super protective over the guys kids.yesterday i was playing with the pit and i got nipped in the face but i dont care it was just playing.when i was a baby i was bit by a dog and have scars on my face and chest but that was most likely my fault.sorry alot of off topic going on,im really bored

That's so sad... I feel terrible for the dogs. At least they found it and put a stop to it though... that's a pretty impressive bust

Ok, I don't see anything funny about the plight of those dogs but it did seem humorous to me that a guy with 300 (three hundred) pit bull guard dogs could get shot and the bad guy gets away (apparently) without leaving any pieces behind!
.
I think that people who are on the front-lines fighting for acceptance of these dogs as family pets could refer to this story as proof they are harmless.

they need to put that guy down instead of the dogs. But the sad thing is that those dogs are "ruined" because of HIM. Sad, but the fate, (or their death really) of most of those dog is probably the best thing for them.

Gus that was a great story, you can truly see who is the DANGER to society!
Both men, the one who was keeping those poor dogs in those conditions and breeding them to be fought, and the one who shot him, are menaces to animal and human society.
I hope that man is NEVER able to own so much as a Siamese Fighting Fish!
I know it sounds cruel, but if the pits were bred to be fought, its best they ARE put down. The more big time fighting dog breeders that are taken down, the less the fighting dogs will be available for these punks that think its cool to have a "dangerous" dog..Wonder what animal they will move to next??
You have to wonder HOW this guy got by with that many dogs in those conditions.....You know he has utilities and therefore meter readers, and other visitors..neighbors? How come no one turned him in?? The police had to find out by a burglary. Thats sad
