Only thing I don't allow is her is to have an attitude with kids or people. She belongs to my daughter, and needs to be nice around kids. And really, she is. When she was only 8 weeks old, she tried to growl at me for picking me up. She has never done that again (haha), and now she is a sweet thing. Only feisty with the other dogs.
Only one alpha b. around here, and that would be me

I hear that Chihuahuas are known for bonding with ONE person and not having much to do with anyone else..I used to get onto mine ALL the time for snapping at the baby..But he calmed down, then would snap at my husband..Well he was 2 # full grown and that didnt last long! Hubby likes to at least THINK hes ALPHA in our house, no other male critter will take THAT position...However in my house I am definitely the QUEEN B...LOL

My shepherd is definitely enough protection for both dogs, she scares me with male strangers and I have 0% trust in her with any adult besides me and my husband but 99% trust with kids. She loves them and takes everything in stride. My dobe is 0% protection but she is the one that people turn away from. She has never met a stranger and is the sweetest girl.
I hate to say it but both are aging, the dobe is almost 9 and the shepherd is 12, but a mutt so I still think both have some years to go on them. Oh, I just got whelps of tears just thinking about it. When the time comes for our bulldog I am definitely wanting to research breeders so I can get the most life out of my baby bull that I can get.

Everyone is scared of my shepherd...teheee, the mailman is downright terrified, and poor Vic has never done a thing to anyone. He just sounds very, very mean
I love Dobies...all the ones I ever knew were big babies and such friendly dogs. But their looks demand respect, which is a good thing
I hope you will still have many years with your babies, we get so attached to our dogs...

You probably think I'm crazy, but I have considered buying a little wagon so I can take him along on my long walks..hehe.

You don't have to tell me about GA summers! LOL! I never thought of the wagon idea....I wonder if Buster would stay inside the wagon??? Definitely something to consider (and yes, I am serious)
