Those are some beautiful dogs.
Many people do not realize that leaving a dog chained up outside all the time is cruel and inhumane. Dogs are social animals and should not be confined all the time.
You may not realize how adversly this can affect your pet, so I point this out not to wag a demeaning finger at you, but to give you information you may not have.
Try reading this web page about "tethering or chaining".
Just food for thought.

um..and why such a big chain? Im refraining from screaming right now....they way u have them chained makes them look viscious...and 99% of the time pits that are chained like that are fighitng pits...
they are pretty..but dont deserve to be chained like that...they deserve a COLLAR not a chain...u realise there will be a HIGH vet bill if those chains get imbedded in their necks? Personally, i wouldnt be to happy if i had to drag that chain around all day..

So I guess keeping your dog in a 6'x6' kennel is also cruel? I live in NC and about every nine out of ten dogs are outside on chains. Being that those are pitbulls if they werent on a chain she would also be a villian for that.

Okay guys. Give her time to reply. You don't know the whole story. I totally agree that if these dogs were like this 24/7 then that would not be a good situation, but you don't know they are.
I have a german shep. that is an escape artest and she goes on little whims. She'll go months and behave and then decide that everytime I put her out back she's going to go galavanting the field behind us. During those times I have no choice but to put her on a chain so I know she's safe. (Even though our back yard is fenced). I usually then give her trials off the chain until I feel safe that her little escaping run is over and she'll stay put when I open the door for her to go out.
On the other hand I have a Dobe who could sit right infront of a gaping hole in the fence and not even put her head through it.
The fawn colored one is beautiful, is that your female?

no its not cruel, you have no risk of the dog for one strangling itself, and 2 the risk of anything getting imbedded.
Yea, they may be on chains, but they REALLY dont need to have those links being in their necks all day..and im asuming they come in at night..
When my dog is outside, hes on a run with a harness, and hes only ever out for a couple of hours. My dog is half pit bull and has been tagged as dangerous by the town. He isnt on chains, hes just on a cord i guess...
Point is..u see that black dog in the photo? U can SEE just by the picture hes NOT enjoying the huge chains on his neck...JUST because its a pit bull DOESNT mean it has to be treated like a criminal...especially if they havent dont anything to deserve it..OH besides their rep which im sure doesnt apply to those dogs.

OK..sorry guys for like flipping out....just when it comes to dogs i guess all i can do is flip out...i see alot of cruelty to dogs, especially pits, every day..and on tv...my best friend is our local animal control, and the most cases of cruelty are dogs being chained like that....naturally all i could do was jump to the gun like that...im sorry...but really...all you need is a thick leather collar..or even better a thick leather harness....

Let me point out a few things...
The dirt around the dog house, that's from being paced, dragging the chain. If the dog was not chained there with some regularity, grass would grow. That is what indicated to me they are chained all the time.
Additionally, blkcrochunter, yes...keeping your dog in a 6x6 cage all the time would also be cruel.
I understand that people work, and during that time they may need to kennel the dog. However, if the kennel is their permenant residence or they stay there 90% of the time...that's inhumane.
Just so it's clear, I was not passing judgement on r96rgrl, but passing on info.

Inhumane is when a dog is not fed adequate amounts of food. Inhumane is when a dog does not have a supply of water. Inhumane is when a dog is chained up in the blazing sun. Inhumane is when a dog does not have a doghouse to protect it against the weather. My dog lives in a 6x6x6 kennel with a sun block roof. When its to hot she comes in the house, when its to cold she comes in the house. Her entire life is not spent in the kennel, she is let out numerous times a day for exercise. She probably gets more exercise than some of these dogs kept inside cramped apartments that only see outside when its time to use the bathroom on a short leash. My dog is very hyper and has to be able to run, I have enclosed a picture of her she is 3 1/2 yrs old, 50 lbs and all muscle. If this is inhumane then just shoot me.

your dog looks very happy My dogs are in around the same size pen, but only for 8 hrs a day, then they are in unless they need to go to the bathroom..or unless we have a cookout, then they are outside of the pen with everybody else.
And, trinity..i totally agree with u about the dirt/grass thing....
r96grl...do u breed them? and how come that puppy isnt chained? j/w is all..

Just so we are on the same page here....I didn't point any fingers at you. I certainly didn't expect a run down on how you keep your dog. It does not sound to me like your dog is left, day after day after day in it's kennel, only being fed, watered, and basically neglected. To me, the distinction here is human interaction outside the kennel, or off the chain. If a dog does not get that, it's inhumane.

excuse me, but a proper sized dog house isnt inhumane, dogs like the security of it, allso a chain if not to tight isnt any worse than a collor.
i used to get calls for dogs out in the heat/cold but on my responding there was water, and a proper sized shelter, you might not aprove but its not ileagle
