Re: Is your reptile stressed? V 1.0

I think we know enough today, and meet their needs to the extent that they thrive and breed readily. They may be less stressed than they would be in the wild. I don't think handling necessarily causes stress either. Maybe for some individuals, or even some species, but not all.

Re: Is your reptile stressed? V 1.0

This really depends on the individual reptile. W/C specimens tend to be more stressed in captivity than CBB specimens.
My salvator vomited at the site of people, it was very difficult to get her to keep food down. A large pond and waterfall (which created ambient noise to mask human foot steps and sounds) really helped relax her and she started to keep food down.
Handling her was not only very stressful to her (and would lead to defecations and regurgitations), But it was very dangerous as well. My fiance went to the hospital for doing so and I probably should have.
So stress in captivity is really an individual thing and it is important for us to tweak our husbandry and interaction to each specific animals needs.
