Re: Responsible Reptile Keeping Debate V1.0
Does Wal-Mart screen customers before selling them bleach to ensure that they do not drink it?
I believe the customer is responsible for being responsible.
That said, I am not going to sell a baby retic to a 15 year old with a fistful of cash.

Not a very good analogy, bleach doesn't require specific temps and humidity, light cycles, food, water etc.
The customer being responible for being responible is fine if your goal is just money. Alot of work goes into breeding, IMO, and the customer telling me they are responsible, isn't going to fly! I'll make that decission!

First off, Walmart will card young looking people for buying lighter fluid, superglue, cough syrup.... so it's a horrible analogy. Second of all, if someone wants to drink bleach, it only affects them, but if someone buys a snake, care of that animal affects the snake, and if a potentially hazardous snake it affects anybody around, and responsible people who own potentially dangerous snakes.

Re: Responsible Reptile Keeping Debate V1.0
Well as I'm not a rescue and I don't have time to make home visits and call references, I'm going to trust people not to be stupid. I make sure everybody who buys a burm/retic/nasty tarantula etc knows what they are getting into but I don't quiz them on the natural history of reptiles.
