For the "guess the # of babies" contest, the winning # is.. drum roll please...
26!!!
Congrats to TheReverendMojo!!! You have just won a free baby boa!
Autumn gave birth yesterday at 6pm, 108 days from POS to 26 beautiful little babies!!
The total was: 26 live, 2 stillborn and 1 slug
I spent all morning taking and uploading pics into my PC at home (where I don't have
internet access) but in my excitement I forgot to transfer them onto disk so I could
load them up now. LOL Oh well.. I do have a lot of pics, I will post them tomorrow morning!
Autumn is a very good mommy snake, she defended her young very well, she had always
been a sweet docile animal, well yesterday she was lunging like crazy, I thought I could
use a shield and pull the babies out but she kept snaking around the shield and trying to
bite me, then open mouth hissing, nothing like a 7.5'+ snake hissing at you!! lol I left the
room and stood outside the door 30 min later and could still hear her "hissss..pause..hisss..pause"
So I let her be with her babies thru the night and this morning I was able to get her behind
the head and pull her out. Some of the babies still had yolk attached so those are sitting in
her cage, the rest are all piled up in a corner of a 'stand-by' cage. I cannot wait to get
home and check them out again! I wish I didn't have to come to work! lol
I am so so so HAPPY!

I will post pics tomorrow!
Congrats again Rev!!! I'll send you an IM!
-April

lol I didn't even describe them did I? whoops! No morphs or anything popped up, but I
wasn't expecting any too... they are nice gray babies with good contrast, some have quite
a few freckles like the dad and some are very 'clean', most have nice deeper red tails
but some deff have a diff. tail color, more of a very faded light color. You'll just have
to wait until tomorrow to see the pics to know what I mean.
A few had some interesting tails but most are standard pattern.

Congratulations April I can't wait to see the pictures.
Hope everything go well for your Albino. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you.
Also congratulations Mojo just think that baby would have been mine
if the two stillborns and the slug where live babies.
Take care
Tom

Thanks again everyone, I have perma-grin, I just can't stop smiling since yesterday!
>just think that baby would have been mine if the two stillborns and the slug where live babies
haha! true Tom! of the 2 that were stillborn, one was not fully developed and the other was
fully developed but got strangled by the yolk stalk, came out dead. I was surprised but
thrilled that there was only the 1 slug! I took pics of the stills, I'll post those as well.
>but all seems to have worked out well.
isn't it great when it does Julius! I was a little worried too to be honest, but I know Rev will give
a baby a great home!
thanks again everyone for the nice comments!

Finally got my pics uploaded!!
Here is what I saw when I walked into the snake room at 6:15pm:
Mass o' babies!

You can see some are still in the sack too..
Newborn!
A lot of them still had the yolks attached, in this pic you can see the two tail
colors I was talking about, most have the deep red tail but some have more of a 'pale-tail'
Here is one of the stillborns that seems to have been strangled by the yolk stalk, and the slug
Here is the stillborn that was under-developed
but back to the good stuff!
There were 2 runts in the litter..
Here is the runt compared to one of the normal size siblings:
Here is a shot showing a light baby next to a darker one (the lighter one as 'pale-tail' too)
Hope you enjoy the pics, I know I enjoyed taking them!

babies are fun!

Just so you know, the ones with that "pail Tail" are still just a touch underdeveloped... I had several that were like that... After a couple of weeks, they should go ahead and color up normally... Unless you have discovered some oddball ivory morph.
