Alrighty!
Glad he ate for you!
The signs of shed are the same for pretty much everything, but animals that are smaller can sometimes fool you near shed time.
The skin is thinner and not as much fluid builds up between the new and old skin, so it can be difficult to tell at times.
Smaller snakes can also dehydrate a lot faster than larger ones, so hydration is essential for them to live and show the signs of shed (better) in the process.

Hehe.. some reptiles and amphibians eat their sheds, such as leopard geckos, slamanders etc.
Although not a typical dietary item for corns, they can eat their own shed, especially if hungry and on a canabalistic kick, which can happen on younger corns.
Some times, people get difficult feeders, like cali kings, to eat by putting the food item inside an old shed and some others, like corals and cobras, to get them eating.
Anyways, go ahead and take the sheds out as they appear, no harm will come of it.
And leave the water in at all times. Whether eating or not.
