Re: Albino Cal King lunch time
That is SO cool! I'd be too scared to hold my snakes when I feed them. They get jumpy when they smell their food.

Re: Albino Cal King lunch time
I could probably feed my corn like that, but I'm not sure I want to try. I've never seen him strike his food, just goes up and proceeds to eat like a gentleman.

Well, if he smelled the food before I picked him up, my fingers would be all chewed up!
I get the mouse ready in another room, wash my hands, and then get him out. After that I go get the mouse with one hand and offer it to him. He never thinks twice about eating it. But, I can't let him near the hand which fed him after he eats or he'll go after it! lol

It's an especially great feat for a Cal king! Those guys are crazy when they are or think they are hungry. Or if there's a rat in the same county.
The last time I was handling a king, he grabbed my hand and would -not- give up on thinking he could eat it for for a good ten to fifteen minutes.

So true! When he's in his cage and smells food, he goes completely berserk- like a kid with ants in his pants. I think that's one thing about Cal King's I enjoy: their crazy feeding response.

Re: Albino Cal King lunch time
It's so beautiful! Only one of my rubber boas will eat from my hand, but that's about it. Most of my baby rosies try to EAT my hand...sheesh.
You're so lucky. He's amazing!

Re: Albino Cal King lunch time
I can sort of feed my baby boa like that, except I give him dinner using tongs and once he's latched on to the food item I can bring my hand in.
I feed in the middle of the cage where there's not a lot of 'furniture' so if I place my hand near the boa he'll coil right onto my hand voluntarily to get a more secure feeding position.
He then proceeds to eat and is oblivious to me until he's completely finished.
You better believe I extract my hand fast once he clears the back legs
