Re: potential emergency
since we are in a sharing mood.
back in 94, I had a pair trans pecos rats in the top slot of a rack.
we had a very daring cat who, while I was out of the room for FIVE whole minutes managed to get to the top and fanagle her claw around the lip of the tub and pull it out enough to get the rest of her paw between it, and push it open even more. (I know this from watching her try to do the same thing on the cage next to it only a few days later while in the room)
The only picture in my mind is the snake freaked, and bolted from the cage, and fell the 6ft to the floor, and the cat made short work of it.
I was crushed, for the snake, and me for having even an ounce of trust that the cat couldn't get itself into that much trouble that quickly.
Thinking that I had the Cat's M.O. I fancied a "brace" to keep the cage from opening without turning it first.
Well, what I didn't account for was the back was completely open.
some time later, I went to work, and my girlfriends mom left the door to the room open , and the cat did the same thing to the other trans pecos rat but in reverse on the other side of the rack.
needless to say, that hasn't happened again
in 14 years (knocks on wood)
feels good to get that off my chest...

Re: potential emergency
Well, since we're sharing...
My first Leopard Gecko Petrie was housed in one of those sliding top glass tanks. Well, this was a few years ago, back before they made the ones that snap into place, so basically all it did was slide shut. I figured hey, he's a leo, he's not gonna get up there and push it, there's nothing in the cage to climb on, he'll be fine.
And he was, for a while. Til the day we went to the grocery store and the cat decided that the lizard was far more interesting than she'd previously thought. We came home to find that she had jumped up on top of the cage, and either dug at it till the screen ripped free, or her weight had caused it to collapse, and she was in the cage with Petrie. Poor little guy had given it his best (cat had bite marks on her nose) but he was no match for a cat. I had raised him from a hatchling so I was pretty upset, to say the least. But I consider it a lesson learned and all the cats now know not to get anywhere near any reptile cage in the house, and we also don't have any of the cheapo cages anymore.

True.
But, I can understand this guy's aggression towards snakemaster and BCI guy.
I don't think that he is gaining anything by doing this but I still understand.
First, I have to admit that the EMERGENCY!!! threads are pretty funny. From this one about the open cage door to the thread.
And then you have BCI guy, talking trash about how he can't believe how many of us on this forum get bit while it never happens to him or the sig he was donning recently. Not to mention when he gets angry every time some one posts a little dry humor about his or his buddy's posts or snakemaster's screen name.
FACT: when you act like this people are going to mess with you.
Chill out people. Life is too short to be getting bent out of shape about what is said on these here internets.
