Stupid Cat--close call
I went to check the mail with my corn snake in hand, and saw that i got a letter from my school with my class shedule. I was reading the letters on my front steps, with the corn around my shoulders. His head was on my back. I felt a sudden movement, and turned around and my neighbours one eyed cat who is often on our front pourch is standing right behind me. (This cat always hisses and attempts to scratch me when ever i try petting it on my front pourch) I got up and walked to the back door, and entered my house. I was really scared to see if my snake was harmed. I briefly checked him out, and he appeared to be okay.
At this time i am pretty "ticked" off, so i ran to my kitchen, and picked up a flower vase from the sink full of water, and ran to my front pourch and soaked the cat with cold, soapy water.
I hate that cat.
After thinking about, i think my snake struck at the cat. If the cat pawed my snake, i think there would be some damage, but the snake is 100% fine after a careful examination. Oh well, that cat shouldn't be on my front pourch anyways

Re: Stupid Cat--close call
My friend, it is you that made the error in judgement by not ensuring the snake's safety while it was under your control.

Re: Stupid Cat--close call
i guess no one should take their reptiles outside then. Whether its a cat that jumps onto your pourch from the back, and sneeks up behind you, or a hawk swoops down from the sky and grabs your reptile out of your hands, the outdoors are home to many predators that can do harm to your reptile without you being aware of their presence

Re: Stupid Cat--close call
ROTFL, The day a Hawk swoops down and trys to take a prey animal out of your hands then Eagle will be snatching teenagers.
Had your snake been in your hands and under control, instead of around your neck and behind you, you would have known the cat was close enough to theaten the snake. Or at least you should.

Re: Stupid Cat--close call
You had prior knowledge of the cat's habit of visiting your porch and it aggressive tendencies, yet you chose to sit on the porch, with the snake out of your sight (control) within the cat's reach. Had you chosen not to sit on the porch or looked for the cat before sitting down, the confrontation would not of happened. It's not a big deal, we've all made mistakes and things like this happen. We just need to learn from our mistakes and realize that we are responsible for any animal under our control.

Re: Stupid Cat--close call
It is a cat's nature to be curious around slithering animals. Seems pretty cruel to the cat to pour soapy water on it, especially since it probably doesn't know why it's being punished. I have 2 cats and always have to watch where the snake's head is if the cats are in the same room. Something you always have to be aware of, IMO. I take it you're not too fond of cats.

I dont believe that there is a error on his part. You were outside with a snake around your shoulders (im sure no one has done that before). Come on now lets be real. Abraham, Im glad to see that your snake is ok. Next time you should take the tank out with the snake so you can put it in there while sitting on the porch.
