Help on a snake...
A friend is going to college and wants to get a snake...so I'm here for suggestions...He is considering an African house snake but wants something bigger...in the 4-5 foot range...and he doesn't want a ball python...
Thanks

Re: Help on a snake...
I'd say one of the Pantherophis or Pituophis species might be best especially if he is a beginner.

Re: Help on a snake...
Are either the Trans-Pecos Ratsnake, Bairds Ratsnake, or the green ratsnake easy to find in captivity?

Re: Help on a snake...
The TransPecos is by far the easiest of the 3 to find for sale.

Re: Help on a snake...
but bairdi are the most "beginner"
Bogertophis (boogertophis.lol) are a tiny bit more picky than panterophis

Re: Help on a snake...
Vivid reptiles has some of the nicest bairdi around, and reasonably priced as well.

Re: Help on a snake...
What would you say if it was between an African house snake and a children's python...Which one would be more docile and tolerate handling better?

Re: Help on a snake...
Children's Pythons would be with regular handling. Africans tend to be a little skittish especially if you make the mistake of grabing them behind the head. LOL

Re: Help on a snake...
Out of all my snakes, there's only two that're content enough to just chill out and not move. My little BCI, and one of my Ball pythons.. other than that, the rest just want to climb up the wall and get to the ceiling fan.
