Speckled Kingsnake pics

A few of my King, Ziggy, and the new cage he has. As you can see, he likes to burrow, the cage is full of little tunnels. He is in blue right now so I will be posting some post-shed pics soon.

I used a substrate called Eco Earth, works awesome. REQUIRES that you feed outside the cage though. Package says its harmless if ingested but i don't buy that. had to thoroughly dry it before using due to Kings not needing hardly any humidity. Cheap stuff. All that is in that 20gal is from ONE $4 package. Depth is about 1" throughout most of the cage.

Re: Speckled Kingsnake pics

nice tom. I use to use eco earth mixed in with aspen with my boas. Worked quite well for humidity. Not that he really needs it

Kings are awesome!

Re: Speckled Kingsnake pics

I used that same bedding with my crestie, and my tarantula. I also had it with my Water dragons, with peat moss layered over it, they were awful about getting it in their eyes if I left it without the peat moss...Dunno why?
Anyways I think it's great stuff. Right now I have my corn on Cypress bedding, which I like as well.

I love Speckled Kings, I think they are very underestimated, and neat snakes.
Nice set up

Re: Speckled Kingsnake pics

Thanks. I won a $25 gift card at PetCo for best reptile setup with that cage. Course, I was the only entry. I like it and I think he does too. I don't handle him hardly at all, FAR more interesting to watch him in the cage. Only time I bring him out is for cage maintenance and feeding (trying to avoid impaction. ). VERY docile nonetheless.
