Pareas carinatus eggs
Well I went to mist the enclosure and noticed this
After those 3, I found another
Total of 5 eggs between .5" and .75"
Unfortunately, while looking through the very dense cage, I found that the female had perished shortly after laying. She was 25" long and a fresh WC.
I have the eggs in the high 70's to be safe. Any advice on incubation temps is welcome.

Re: Pareas carinatus eggs
Good luck!
Just curious, is the death the result of the stress of laying (on an already stressed WC animal) or some other complication? I am a noob and am always curious about mortality causes. Was wondering what experience has shown you guys over the years with this type of thing.

Re: Pareas carinatus eggs
There is so little (more like nothing) really known about that species reproductive habits, I'd guess along the lines of your thoughts on it being reproductive stress on top of being a recently WC animal.
I'd have some killer jetlag too after a flight from the other side of the world.
top being pregnant on top of that...
I hope they hatch BW, that would be a not so common thing to happen in the US, maybe one of the first captive hatchings of the species in captivity here.
I'm anxiously waiting to see how this turns out.
(how long they incubate, hatching size, length, etc)
pretty exciting, just too bad momma didn't make it.

Re: Pareas carinatus eggs
Wow, how simultaneously sad and exciting.
I will keep my fingers crossed for a successful hatching. I am sorry to hear the mom passed on, however.
