love is in the air
today I quickly interrupted an intimate moment with my oldest adult pair of prasina.
They have been going steady for about 8 straight years now, so they have gotten sort of experimental.
the points of focus are off, and the lighting horrible.. but I was going for a brief interruption, and not spend 30 seconds prepping each shot.

They are Elaphe prasina
or a "green bush ratsnake"
the reason people use latin names for snakes is, its much more universal.
If someone in SE Asia tells me they have a banded water snake, how does one know what it really is?
A common name is subject to local and regional influence and is not going to be known globally.
They are pretty easy to care for, but I wouldn't consider them a entry level snake, just because of how fast they are and how much chomp they have behind their bites.
when i've been bitten by these snakes, it bleeds more than getting bit by a GTP, believe it or not.
