OK... my science teacher had found a little snake out side(in northeastern corner of kansas) and he dont really know what kind it is, so i told him i'd try to help him. The snake is about 6-8 inches, and it had about 6-8 little live babies about a week after he found it. The babies are about a little over and inch. They are a darker brown/blackish color. I will try to get some pix of them pretty soon. But can anyone help me out by the way i've explained it? thanx

Pics would be much more helpful, as would some complete color pattern descriptions and any distinguishing characteristics. Color of the belly vs. color of the dorsal surface (body).

To be that small, I would guess an earth snake or ring neck, one of the really small species, but anything close to accurate is impossible with the given description.

Actually, it cannot be either of those 2 species, they're not live bearers...hmmm.
