Hello,
Caught this guy in Southern Peninsula Malaysia at an altitude of about 2000 ft. I'm trying to identify it, I think it is some kind of keelback, most probably rhabdophis. It is neonatal. The thing in the background is a bottlecap. That's how small it is.
Thanks.

Sorry, I'm still new to this. Let's try to get the image up again. Hopefully.

The reason that it isn't working is that you are trying to post a picture that is on your hard drive. To post a picture to the forums, it must first be uploaded a picture-hosting site on the internet, such as photo.redtailboa.net

Kohm, geocities doesn't allow pic posting on any other site. Angelfire, Tripod, and Webshots do that too. Try our albums at RTB photo album or Printroom.com.

It worked before, but when I open the page, a syntax error sometimes occurs that prevents the webpage from being displayed properly. Thanks anyway, I'm seriously hopeless with computers, but I'm exploring printroom now.

See, now it works, though I can't be sure that it will again next time.

Sorry, I really don't understand comp terminology. What can I do to make sure it works all the time, next time?
Thanks XyluM!

Unidentified snake
Alright everybody, I finally got this out. Thanks Riley, XyluM, Bry, Naja for your help in teaching me to post pix, now can you identify this fella?
It's quite active in the day, but sleeps at night. I'm trying to give it snails, and will try grasshoppers. It's grown a lot in the past 3 days which all the more indicates that it is most probably still neonatal.
It has a "Made in China" below ... just kidding. No seriously, it's real, what is it?
Thanks!

When I first saw it, I thought that it might be a boiga nigriceps, cos it looked like the pic in my book. But this guy's got round pupils, and cat snakes have slit pupils, so I don't think it is.

It's so hard to tell when they're little...is the measuring device in the background metric (cm) or standard (inches)?

Here is Tim Jackson's take on it.

But it's too hard to tell for sure with the juveniles as they can be so different from the adults in the keelbacks. Hi everyone, bad news, our little guy died on saturday afternoon. I was away in Tokyo over the weekend and my dad who was helping me mind all my pets said it went into spasms and flipped over and just died. My dad said it ate a couple of grasshoppers, which might have kind of choked it if they weren't small enough, or it might have died due to stress.
Anyway, one of my friends who studies herps and is doing his doctorate on frogs identified it. He said it's a Spotted Ground Snake, Liopeltis balioderum, related to ratsnakes and sandsnakes. He's dropping by to pick it up and preserve it for the university's collection.
Thank-you everybody for helping to identify it, and it's not lost in the name of science, I guess. I'll put up more pix of it anyway, since it's quite pretty.
By the way, BW, thanks for getting the great interview!
