Nerodia sipedon

Here is my 2.2 Nerodia sipedon. Tell me what you think. neonates and yearling CB, male long term captive. The female I had died a few days after giving birth, only two neonates survived.
First, my two neonates. One mis-banded.

My yearling

And my adult male

the neonates really can't break the skin, but sure try every chance they get. the yearling is actually pretty docile, but the male, well lets just say he only gets moved with the hook. My right hand has a few nice scars from him.

The common name is northern water snake, and yes, they are very aggressive. most will bite with out even thinking about it, and they tend to strike multiple times. Also they musk a lot, even the more timid ones. A lot of the times when you hear someone (non-snake people) from the mid Atlantic talk about "water moccasins," they are referring to these, and since they have a anticoagulant in the saliva, you bleed like the dickens when bit, and people think they are venomous. Another reason people think they are "water moccasins" or copperheads is as a threat, they will flatten their body, and triangulate there head.

I keep the adult in a sweater box with aspen, hide, and shoebox for water dish. the yearling and two neonates(kept together) in shoeboxes with same, but the water dish is a small cat water dish (the plastic kind.) Its too much hassle keeping them in a more aquatic environment, they just need to be able to soak and the water dish must be large enough for it to have fish for food. I normally feed blue gill or large sunnies. ( I work at a koi breeder, so these are free for me)
