Well, I would look at www.cornsnakes.com They are the corn experts in my eyes. As for do they constrict, yes. They are not a danger to any human life though. Assuming to you feed frozen thawed rodents like you should, it should cost on average about 1.30 a week. Multiply that by the number of weeks in a year and you have an estimate on food. Vey bills are not possible to even get a rough estimate. I try to get a yearly check up on my reptiles which only costs abput $30-50 a piece. Saying that nothing is wrong with them thats all. If there is something wrong with them then you add that....Its just too many possibilities to guess about it. A corn is by far the best beginner snake. But be warned, snakes are addicting. You can't just stop with one!!!

Heres a pic of my Albino Snow Cornsnake..This particular morph is inexpensive compared to some of the other morphs out there. She wont get much larger than about 5ft.
They are really sweet, easy going, and low maintenance..Just need a heat mat under a 1/3 of their tank, mine is in a 40gal breeder tank. I feed her 1 fuzzy mouse every other week..so they are not expensive.
I thnk shes a pretty morph, an exceptional snake. My 8yr old daughter adores her, and handles her all the time.
As far as vet visits, as long as your snake stays warm and on F/T and you buy her from a reputable breeder, you should have no problems other than checkups for fecal tests, etc. Make sure you find a good retile vet near you before you purchase your snake.

Ya, depends on how often you feed them. Some people feed hatchling corns every 3 days until they get on fuzzies then every 7 days. It depends and since it is nearly impossible to make a juv. corn snake obese, you can feed them like you would a horse....A LOT!!!
