cornsnake or ratsnake?
which is calmer? i know temperment comes with handling and CBB, but i mean overall, thinking of getting just a small snake (other than garter) for my roomate now that he's hooked on JUDAS i can't get him out of here, i was gonna get him a garter, but the last few i've looked at were in bad condition and i didn't really want to get, i have seen alot of feisty ratsnakes, but no corns, just wondering which has a better disposition?

well, my corn is inactive when he's been bathing on the cool side of his tank. when he's on the warmer side, he is a lot more active when i get him out. he eats really well too. he was so hungry yesterday that he followed the pinky that i had for him and lunged for it. i am about to try and feed my boa today for the first time. wish me luck.

A corn snake is a rat snake.... red rat. There are multiple species of rat snake so one can't really answer your question. Were you to ask "which is calmer, a red or yellow rat?", it would be slightly more answerable.
All snakes are individuals, corns tend towards good temperment, but not always....

i would get a morph corn like an amel or snow, because then its guaranteed to be captive bred and most likely healthier

Ya, corns are a form of rats. What are sold as corns are usually also called red rat snakes. I have yet to see a corn that was boring, They don't lay back as much like larger boas and pythons so they are typically more active. Most corns now are cbb so a healthy specimen is easy to get. Most any rat snake will be "tame" but I any corn snake can become tame with enough handling. Corns are not picky either which makes them great pets. To top it all off corns come in a lot more colors that the typical north american 'rat snakes'.

corns are a timid snake anyways so you shouldnt need to handle them as much as people have said, bullsnakes are supposed to be a mean snake and i didnt handle mine for a month and she never even hissed at me.
